the UK version of Life On Mars.
the US one was beyond stupid.

I'd forgotten about Life on Mars UK, that is probably the second best example after Blackadder, shame they made Asher to Asher 1 season too long, because for a spin-off that was really quite good. And I will never understand why they made the US version, it hit every base on the shit pitch. Why couldn't they have just imported the UK version???

The Whitest Kids U'Know. They are on their last season, and I give them props for it.

Most comedy shows last well beyond their prime, but after only four or five seasons, these guys know it is time to end it.

Regardless of whether or not Firefly should have kept going, it ended well with Serenity.

Scrubs did (I consider the 9th season non-canon), FMA twice, Gurren Lagann. Really most of the time I see a series end it was due to cancellation, not because it was just supposed to end.

For the western folks, I'm gonna stick my neck under the chopping block and say Clone High. Wait, hear me out. They knew they were getting canceled, so they wrote us a final episode that both left things on a murderous cliffhanger, and yet left me somehow okay with that. Think about it, exactly what would happen if everyone got unfrozen? Bad things, that's what. Which is why they ended it in a state of suspension; everyone's just gonna be frozen there forever until someone tries to pick it up again. It's an oddly comforting thought to me, and I have no idea why.

For the eastern folks, Puella Magi Madoka Magica. If you found it too nonsensical, watch the entire series again. If you found it too happy, you are a cruel and evil person and you're getting coal in your stocking this year. If you didn't find it happy enough, I wonder where you were the last 11 episodes.

MASH and Soprano's ended fairly well and completely
Stewie: And while we're on the subject HBO deserves a whack for ending the Sorpanos on a F*CKING CUT TO BLACK *shoots camera*

Honestly, it was completely out of place with the rest of the series.
I wouldn't have minded if it ended with teh happies but the way they did it was silly.
Also, captchas suck.

Not Twin Peaks.
No spoilers, but Twin Peaks had a terrible ending.

Babylon 5 ended well, though.
I dunno, I thought Twin Peaks ended pretty well. You definitely did not see it coming, that was for dang sure... I agree with you about Babylon 5 though.

OT: Well, I know everyone will not agree with me on this, but I thought LOST had a pretty good ending. It wrapped up the story in a satisfying way, and did not leave any plot thread hanging like many other shows do. Might not have been what others were expecting, but I walked away satisfied.

PROBATION GUARD
I would agree, since the important (to me, Kallen, Todo, Jeremiah, Kaguya) characters realized Lelouch and Suzaku's plan, but damn I would love to know if Lelouch was that cart driver at the end. There's a very good chance he became immortal after he took out the sword of Akasha after all.

Voyager. It had a great ending.
Umm, no.

Time travel is the way writers cheat when they've painted themselves into a corner and can't think of a good way out.

Plus if time travel is easy enough for the Federation to pull off why didn't the Borg with their superior technology simply travel back in time and assimilate all the sentient races before they could become any kind of threat?

I really liked the ending to Battlestar Galactica, a lot of people were upset with the last episode because it didn't tie up every little loose end, but I was really happy with it.

Carpica, though that was cancelled, I thought did a good job of ending all the story lines with the last episode - despite the fact that it was supposed to lead into the second season.

Deep Space Nine also had a fairly epic ending.
