If people take the Wii seriously (people being devs and players), then better games will be made. Until then, we'll just have to deal with Gingerbread Ninja.

Meh, I heard that before with the Wii. Natal will fail, as will all things like it. Most people I know like to be able to sit down and play a few rounds of CoD, we don't want a game where we jump around like retards trying to get our character to punch.

Microsoft is probably trying to feed off of the Wii's popularity, but they are feeding off of the wrong element.

Wow, why don't you work at Microsoft? That would get Microsoft up there with the Wii.

AO games wouldn't be available on a mass market.

AO rating is pretty much the Kiss of Death for any game that wants to sell.

But its INTERACTIVE PORN GODDAMMIT!!!

And we are talking about 360 owners with no lives!! Not the other kind. They would kill for Natal.

There is something on PS3 where you have to press buttons to move your left and right legs... check out the review.

Unless your trying to be funny and failing, this review isnt real. the game doesnt exist. ZP was kidding.

Anyway, Im not going to judge natal until it comes out. I mean, it doesnt look that bad. The reason the wii failed is becuase of the fact it has Early PS2 graphics + the motion and controls are completeley fucked up.

But this isnt Motion like the Wii motion, this is more like Eyetoy.

However, couldnt they just make games that are compatible to use xbox vision cameras..?

They said the same thing about the POWER GLOVE.

...[/youtube]

I don't want crappy gimmick motion controls. Just make a game with good mechanics. NO one has done motion controlls well except for Nintendo, in house. All the other Wii Titles to use it are just..thptt.

Sega CD - 32X anyone?

Doesn't anyone learn?!
No, they have not, and most never will.

Any new tech must be shoehorned onto every new release for the next year to prove just how bad it is. I guarantee you that when VR comes around, ever game will have a gimmicky VR section that handles like crap.
When it comes around? Anyone else remember the Virtual Boy?
Ha! It was a trap! I knew someone would bring this up.

the VB wasn't really VR. The VB was to video games what 3D movies are to regular ones. I mean real VR, with more colors than red and black, and that actually do a passable job of immersing people in a game world.

If they're going to have real, hardcore Triple-A titles on it, then why do they have Rare developing for it, who haven't released anything good since 1999?

It's a natural part of the process. While they seem "Oh, let's translate a real life game like blackjack into a boring, watered down version that happens to be electronic."
Replace "game like blackjack" with "movements like bowling" and you pretty much have the Wii's design scheme.

Natal's beauty is that you can do virtually anything with any game but at the same time, since its just an accessory, refrain from relying on motion controls for ALL game features and imputs because, after all, Natal is an accessory, not a core design feature of the xbox.

Hypothetically, in a game like fallout you could pick a lock, hack a computer, and navigate through a map with the movements of one hand while at the same time keep the other on a standard control so once your done twitching you can go back to the same old stick flicking action that any current shooter fan knows all too well.

Just because Nintendo butchered serious motion senstive gaming does not mean that their mistakes will be repeated with Natal. All that is needed is some moderation and thoughtful design, which is something that the xbox brand and its developers have demonstrated to have in some abundance.

Before the Wii bashers get on this, I just want to say that this seems REALLY gimmicky, which is what a lot of people have been complaining about when they play Wii's core titles.

MS has completely missed the point.
I wont call you naive, but MS has not missed what they're aiming for, it's already a proven concept (Track IR, 2007), all they're doing is potentially making it cheaper, which is IMO an astoundingly good thing.

When I say missed the point, I'm not talking about MS having bad tech, I'm talking about how other than the obvious applications, MS has not really shown anything new that would interest the core gamers.

Looking around in an FPS of racing game is cool, bit without being part of the core gameplay, it's gimmicky and unneeded. Looking around in an FPS is fine, but if your gun isn't facing the same way that your head is, then you've got a hindrance. Being able to see where the other cars are in a racing game is not really necessary, as that is what the map is for. Also, there is usually a button that lets you look directly behind you. If a mechanic seems cool, but doesn't really help gameplay, then it's a gimmick.

What I want to see from this is an adventure game where you actually have to look around for clues, or an RPG that makes you look for things like switched and chests.

I say wait one year, then judge whether Natal actually brings new experiences to gamers, or if it just becomes another peripheral. I won't say that they will succeed or fail right now, but MS seems to be rather unimaginative right now.

Lets hope this doesn't crash and burn, I am generally stoked on the idea of so much immersion, but I am skeptical. Really hope this does well.
NO....OPTIMISM!

Go sit in the corner and think long and hard about your cautious positivity!

Anyways, it it works, great. If not, no matter.
