You know what? I like this a whole lot, especially with the theaters around these parts that insist that certain movies I want to see can ONLY BE SHOWN IN 3D. I'm not keen on crossing county lines to go to a theater that's playing these movies in 2D as well.

if your interested there really easy to make at home take 2 pairs of standard 3-d glasses from your local cinema take the right lens from one and the left lens from another and switch them round reattach and enjoy although you still suffer from 30% colour loss

Or you could by two sets of 3d glasses from the cinema for £1 each, pop the lenses out and replace them so that the lenses are the same for both eyes. Seriously it's a good idea and all but no way is it worth 8 bucks

mark kermode had a pair built 2 or 3 years ago for press screenings and made an instructional blog this guy did not create them. he's the BBC film critic so he's definitely legitimate

Any old pair of polarized sunglasses would work. This must be a joke.

Well sure, but people always want to make more money.
Anywho it's a good idea, and I just might get a pair since I'm prone to migraines and not a big fan of the 3D-hype..

Now there is something completely redundant...

If I got this right, I am supposed to pay the premium most cinemas are charging for the 3D movies (compared to seeing the same movie, in the same multiplex in 2D) and on top of that pay even extra to buy 2D glasses that will negate the 3D effect that I just paid premium for...

How sad is that?

I also didn't enjoy the 3D cinema (although, strangely, I loved the Nintendo 3DS, probably due to the slider). I just go to the standard 2D halls instead (and save myself the premium).

Since most 3D movies at the moment require glasses to be seen in 3D, avoiding the headaches is as simple as not wearing the glasses. Of course, when glasses-free technology starts becoming pervasive, that won't work, but in the meantime, don't wear them.

The guys at Tested.com made an instructional video for this months ago. Paying $8 for a pair seems a bit weird.

What in the fuck is the use of this thing?

"OMG FRIENDS WANNA GO TO 3D MOVIE AND I DON'T WANT TO!"......... Then don't fucking go. Is it really that big an issue? If all your friends go drink bleach would you tag along?

If you don't like something, don't do it...

That's economics for you. Tricking or forcing people to pay for crap they don't want, then giving them an option to buy a way to fix the thing they didn't want in the first place.

Huzzah! I was so upset when thinkgeek put them up only to realize they were the April Fools joke. Glad to see a good idea alive and well, and not that complicated if you wanted to do it at home.

While I have no problems with 3D... I have serious dissonance issues with Hacked On 3D (Flat backgrounds with some fobbed on 3D bits...) and Frenetic 3D (Green Hornet). Being able to zap that hard into the sewer system is mighty keen.

I think They're pretty useful. Imagine that your friends want to go see a 3D movie, but 3D gives you headaches or something else.
