New 2D Glasses Remove That Pesky Extra Dimension From Movies

This is the most ridiculous thing I've seen today lol. I just never understood why this 3D craze even exists. To me it's a gimmick that failed to impress me the first time i encountered it. The idea that people would buy glasses to see a 3D movie in 2D is both hilarious and even more baffling than the 3D craze it's self. I can understand that people have different tastes, and i like things that others don't and vice versa. I just can't understand why you would pay extra to go to a 3D movie just to watch it in 2D.

Yeah i understand that they give some people headaches, 3D doesn't sit that well with me either but it doesn't hurt me. And what else are you going to do when all your friends go to the movies and they all want to see one in 3D? None of that makes the concept any less baffling though.

The only reason we people get headaches from the 3D, is because were are subconsciously aware that embedded within 3D is subliminal messaging designed to make people say good things about anything shown in 3D.

I might get a pair just to support 2D as a medium.

I don't mind 3D as a gimic, but it ads NOTHING to an already great movie.

Yeah, my thought too. Man, the April Fool deals from ThinkGeek this year seriously cracked me up, made me remember again why I love ThinkGeek so much... That and the fact that it's a geek heaven!

With some knowledge on how they work:

Get normal 3d glasses

rotate one lens 90 degrees somehow

They'll work 2d now.

I think polaroid sunglasses should already meet this critera, usually it's one eye horizontal filter and the other vertical, and sunglasses are just both horizontal

Excellent, so now if someone does decide to drag me to the inevitable Avatar 2 I can just wear these things.

hmm paying the up charge for a 3D movie just so you can watch it in 2D (x.x)

One of those cases where you tell your 'friends' you can't watch 3D movies and would rather pay less to watch the 2D version FOR THE SAME EXACT EXPERIENCE.

Seriously, i've watched Avatar in 2D and 3D and tell you the truth, i did not get anything extra from the 3D version other than a strange feeling that i've missed some of the gorgeous visuals in the background.

Tho i plan on getting contacts soon. over ear headsets really dig them frames in after prolong use.
I'm with you on 3D adding nothing to the experience. Actually when I watched Avatar in 3D, I think it detracted from my experience. I was so busy trying to point out the 3D elements to myself to make it worth the extra money that I didn't really give myself the chance to enjoy the movie for the first 20 minutes or so. When I realized that, I just sat back and enjoyed the show. I've watched Avatar in 2D and found it just as enjoyable. To me, 3D adds nothing. I either don't notice it, or it is wasted. Little more than a gimmick.

I'd actually almost buy these out of protest. I have no love for 3D effects.
Wait till they start pusing holo movies, thats gonna be unbearable BS.

siiiiiiiiiiigh

So this is what it's come down to? Paying to opt out of something we shouldn't even be paying for to begin with?

I can totally understand their usefulness, but it still makes me weep inside. Stupid 3D! I hate you sooooooooo much!!! *shakes fist*

3D glasses are basically 2 different polarized filter for each eye.
Just switch the left glass of one pair with the right glass of another.
Now you have 2 pairs of "2D" glasses.

Why pay 8$ for one?

Or better, just go watch the movie in 2D.

In many smaller towns like mine, a theater may not show both versions. If they have to choose, they are obviously going to show the 3d version because then you are forced to pay the higher price of admission.

Just take the polarized lenses out and stick those to your glasses.

If your scavenging from regular 3D glasses turn one lens 90 degrees.

I feel like crying, that we live in a world where glasses that let you see a movie in 2D have saling potential.
