Oh HELL YES. I'm buying a pair as soon as I can.

My local cinema has 4 screens, unfortunately only two of those are decent, the other two are like over sized lounge rooms, and the good screens almost always show movies in 3D. So it's get a headache or be squeezed in like a tin of sardines with a screen only a little bigger then what you could get a home.

Since most 3D movies at the moment require glasses to be seen in 3D, avoiding the headaches is as simple as not wearing the glasses.
Actually I tried to watch Avatar without the glasses when I started to get a headache, but it actually made it worse, you don't get the 3D but you do get the annoyance.

I've seen another pair of those months ago, not news, but still interesting, I guess. I'd rather use them to mess with people than to take away 3D, though I'm not a fan of 3D I can stand it.

These glasses won't fix that. lol

Why didn't I think of that. Oh well, I probably couldn't figure out how to make them anyway.

I'll buy a pair.

Though I'd much rather this 3D fad die sooner rather than later.

This is NOT the revolution in cinema, this is NOT Technicolor. This is an annoying fad that goes completely against what cinema is supposed to be: a communal event.

The fundamental problem with Stereoscopic 3D is it ONLY works under very narrow parameters, a very fixed distance and small angle from the screen. That means effectively cinema cannot be for a large crowd to be enjoyed by all, it means those in the middle rows near the centre aisle get a great show and everyone else gets a headache.

hell in most of the cinemas I've been to NOWHERE in the cinema can you look at the screen with 3D glasses without a headache inducing double-vision.

The guys at Tested.com made an instructional video for this months ago. Paying $8 for a pair seems a bit weird.
cheaper than all the aspirin you'll need.

Plus when the sales become so evident it'll be undeniable to the powers-that-be that this 3D fad is NOT generally liked but is alive by populism.

ok...this might be a dumb question (not sure about the detailed works of 3D imagery) and I don't know if somebody else asked it....but what about not wearing the glasses at all...wouldn't it be the same as if you are wearing the 2D glasses except you don't have to pay for the extra glasses?

The only reason I'm against 3D films is because I hate wearing glasses over my glasses. So this really doesn't help me... And 3D is more expensive, but that doesn't bother me to much. You are getting more of an experience out of 3D, so the extra couple dollars isn't absurd.

Then you see both images, and it is very blurry and, in my opinion, even more migraine inducing.

I've got a better idea. My friends can go watch the 3D version while I just go to the 2D version. It's a movie, I don't need to be with them during the actual watching part considering you're supposed to be quiet and watch the film.

To those saying "just don't wear the 3D glasses", it doesn't work that way. Here's what 3D looks like if you aren't wearing the glasses:

Obviously you can see that "don't wear the glasses" isn't a solution.

What in the fuck is the use of this thing?

"OMG FRIENDS WANNA GO TO 3D MOVIE AND I DON'T WANT TO!"......... Then don't fucking go. Is it really that big an issue? If all your friends go drink bleach would you tag along?

If you don't like something, don't do it...
I can bring an exception to that rule. The Green Hornet here (Shropshire, England) was only showing itself in 3D. I wouldn't have minded to have a pair of these glasses as I'm sick of the gimmick-esque 3D movie scene.
If I had a choice to see it 2D then no problem but some cinemas are so darned cheap, they'll only show it in 3D. On the whole, the three dimension experience is ok but nothing jaw-dropping really. I find the HD hype a bit more respectable and even then it only makes the picture slightly sharper

Hank made them simply because he likes to watch 3D movie but his wife can't and he finds it more enjoyable to go to the movies with his wife, instead of alone. Hey, you could make them yourself or you could not go to a 3D movie but this is just an option for those who want to do neither.

The price is due to the fact that he can't produce 10000000000000000000 of them, he only has them in small batches for those who want them. Honestly, I find it cool.

Here's a thought: don't watch it. Don't give them your money for it. Easy fix.
