I'm pretty sure that does say Altair, son of no one, but to get that you have to read the phrase backwards and the letters are disconnected. I hope they planned that instead of just copying the letters they found on the internet.
And how won't they be "prevalent" in Desmond's game? The 1700's would be fine.Saviordd1 said:No, your risking guns becoming to prevalentMr.Pandah said:Ugh. Ancient Greece? Modernize the game some more please. 1700s anyone?
Hah, this so much.TheEndlessSleep said:Can't they just drop the shitty backstory with Desmond and the Animus?
The series would get so much better if they just went through the lives of several different assasins in different time periods, without trying to link the stories together with a weak background narrative and thinly disguised religious messages.
Or they could set it during the war that was much bigger and involved every continent on Earth that happened right before it that was so big that Churchhill called it the first World War, i.e. the Seven Years War.Drago-Morph said:I agree. An Assassin's Creed game taking place in colonial Boston throughout the Revolutionary War? Awesome. Plus, they can screw with history by saying that it was a Piece of Eden that allowed the Americans to win.Mr.Pandah said:Ugh. Ancient Greece? Modernize the game some more please. 1700s anyone?
What a great way to make a game so much more bland.Lissa-QUON said:Hah, this so much.TheEndlessSleep said:Can't they just drop the shitty backstory with Desmond and the Animus?

Desmond really isn't that interesting and the modern story just doesn't really interest me. I really honestly would just want a game with various assassins in different time periods and screw the modern "genetic memory" bits.
Altair designed all the weapons - da Vinci built and modified them based on Altair's designs.Exocet said:Going back in time seems pretty bland, weapon wise.
I mean, play the first AC,then play Brotherhood.Going back to the first AC is hard, because you lose your pistol, crossbow, dart launcher,etc..
So what would you have in ancient Greece? Can't have a pistol.Apparently,no one thought of the double hidden blade until Da Vinci,so you're back to one. Can't have a crossbow, none of them were small enough at the time....
My point is,going back in time would remove so many options, but at the same time, they have to mix it up by changing era,but too modern and swordfighting becomes irrelevant.
Well, the names are Roman, but the entities are not exclusively Roman. Minerva is practically the same as Athena, but the Romans only adopted the Etruscan name for her (Etruscans called her Mnerva (or some similar variation). And Etruscans themselves were in contact with the Greeks so that deity is a mish-mash of exactly the same things, only with different names).spielberg11 said:And wouldn't it make more sense for the game to be set in Rome, with the names of 'Those Who Came Before' all being in Roman, e.g. Minerva and Pluto?
Oooh, that's why I couldn't understand it!Midnight Crossroads said:I'm pretty sure that does say Altair, son of no one, but to get that you have to read the phrase backwards and the letters are disconnected. I hope they planned that instead of just copying the letters they found on the internet.
I stand corrected. I was aware of the fact the Romans ripped off the Greek Gods in everything but name, but thank you, you seem to be an expert in this genre. I salute you, Historian.Beliyal said:Well, the names are Roman, but the entities are not exclusively Roman. On the other hand, Ancient Greece would be like my dream come true. I absolutely adore Antiquity and especially Greece. If they really put the game there, I'll be the happiest person on Earth. However, the Phaistos disk is far older than Ancient Greece and dates back to somewhere between 19th and 14th century BC. That's roughly thousand years before the Ancient Greece. So I wouldn't take the disk as a hint to where the game will be set. Unless the game will explore Greece in general. But the disk being a hint to Ancient Greece - highly unlikely. It is still an extremely interesting hint.
