Maybe a game with more than one historical setting plus the future desmond era might work.

Well, it would make sense that it would say, "Altair, Son of No-one." His name is said to mean "Son of None," or "Sone of No-one." The Ibn-La'Ahad part, not the Altair part.

Or they could just, you know, finish up Assassin's Creed 3 instead of another spin-off. Just putting that out there.
I'm sure Assassin's Creed 3 will come out in 2012, so that it makes sense with the game's storyline, but yeah, I agree. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, isn't bad, but I would like to see something far more original.

This series has so much potential. They could go literally anywhere with it, but they choose not to. If they are going to make spin-offs they should stop just copy-pasting the formula.

I'd be happy with Ancient Greece or a return to the crusades. I still don't understand why anyone would want to play as Desmond for a whole game though. I don't really like the guy.
did you see what happen at the end of brotherhood???

I would like to see how Ancient Greece worked out story and gameplay wise??
Indeed I did. I liked how Desmond and co. were incorporated into Brotherhood. They were featured just enough to move the plot along while we played as Ezio most of the time. Sure Brotherhood ended as a cliffhanger, but that doesn't mean I want to play as Desmond, I just want to see where the story goes.

Fun fact: The arabic does say "Altair, son of no one," but only if you read it from right to left à la roman script. Arabic is read from left to right. So somebody screwed up.

EDIT: Damn, was beaten to it.

Ugh. Ancient Greece? Modernize the game some more please. 1700s anyone?
I agree. An Assassin's Creed game taking place in colonial Boston throughout the Revolutionary War? Awesome. Plus, they can screw with history by saying that it was a Piece of Eden that allowed the Americans to win.
I thought that was what they were hinting at in the end cut scene of Brotherhood. When Shaun sees the Masonic Eye and the Phrygian cap, he says "Now those two come together in only one place-" and then gets cut off. That one place is the American dollar bill, so I figured the game would take place in revolutionary America.

I made the America link as well, though I have no idea how - I don't know squat about the 'Merica. I assumed it meant that Desmond and the scooby gang were going to go to america, not whoever the next Animus character was going to be.

Oh, and ninja'd on the "double blades were designed by Altair" thing.

I like Desmond, so I hope he gets a little more attention in the next game, but I think they had a pretty good balance of it in Brotherhood - you popped out every now and then just often enough to remember the other characters in the overarching story, but rarely enough that it didn't interrupt the flow of Ezio's story. I would like to see more to do outside of the animus though - having the town to explore was fun for a while, but once you found the 4 items it was boring, and even then the only reward was a trophy. Also, maybe during loading screens Desmond could have short conversations with Shaun and Rebecca about the mission that is loading at the time or something. It would make it seem more like they are your support team, watching over you while you are in the animus - because that is what they are. I like them, and I REALLY like Shaun's dialogue - his smartarse comments made me laugh, especially his historical notes in the database, but he was focused and thoughtful when you got advice from him during Subject 16's puzzles. I would love to see their characters fleshed out more.

Finally, I don't care if the character changes or not - I would like to see Altair again, but I would also like to see other ancestors of Desmond's. We've had a lot of Ezio and I would like a change, but I have grown attached to Ezio and wouldn't mind if he is back. And it would be nice to spend time with Altair again. The setting definitely needs to change though. Two games in the same place, when their is an entire world of potential settings? I understand why they didn't though. Ezio was a very popular character so they stuck with him. It was a safe bet. By sticking with Ezio they pretty much had to stick with Italy, especially since a big part of his character was his interactions with other characters who pretty much had to stay in Italy. It would have been easy to say Ezio travelled to Germany say, but justifying a well known historical figure like Leonardo being somewhere we know he wasn't would have been a tricksy little hobbitses. And Ezio without Leo just wouldn't be right.

Ancient Greece? isn't that before Altair's birth ? or maybe not the ancient I am thinking of.
No you are correct, Greece fell when the Roman Empire came 'round, and Rome fell leading to the Europe we know now(or something close to it) and Altair was during the crusades which are after ancient rome

Seems like Ubi is doing pretty much what I thought they should be doing.

I think it's a solid idea that they keep making these spin-offs that travel to different eras and give us different environments to play around in. Then, when that's all said and done, make the final game (ACIII) centered solely around Desmond. Hopefully they go through with it, because I'd love to see this game in Victorian England.

It's mentioned in the second game that Altair traveled a lot, and did come up with a lot of the new ideas used in 2. So we have an excuse as to why Altair would go there, and why he would have the weapons. So the "it doesn't make sense/it would be a downgrade" argument can't really stand. But the "what's the point" argument...

Still, I have faith that it'll be an awesome game. Most likely.
Actually Ancient Greece was before Altair's time so his it would be downgraded argument works perfectly

Greece makes sense - the Mediaeval (Roman/Byzantine) Greece, not Ancient Greece. Chronologically Altair went already from the Crusade States to Cyprus (the PSP game), so it is not too illogical for him to move on further to either the Roman Empire (Byzantine Empire) or Latin Empire (Crusader States on the Balkans and in Constantinople, depending on time-frame).
It would be hard to fit it in with Desmond though. If the memories come from the DNA, he should not be able to "remember" anything after the birth of Altair's child, which I believe was established as having happened while Altair and Maria were still on Cyprus.

So they make loads of new mechanics like hidden guns and then they go backwards to Ancient Greece? That doesn't make sense, they need to go forward.

Why would anyone want to play as desmond? God, why? He's such a horrible, horrible stupid ugly loser.

Seriously, I like my protagonists like I like my women: Mute, and with a rocket launcher.

We might. They haven't said yet what kind of game this will be - main series like AC1/AC2/ACBro where we're playing as Desmond in the Animus experiencing his ancestor, or a gaiden like AC Bloodlines where there are no Desmond sections, and (it is implied) we are just getting Desmond's ancestor experiences.
If like the latter, it could easily be set in the overarching AC timeline after the end of ACBro without needing to go into the fate of Desmond and the other Assassin's, and leave that for AC3.

Well...Athena did say something along the lines of "Now you must go, alone!" at the end of brotherhood. Where he is going and what he is doing is pretty ambigious at this point. It could be a "Desmond" game that's based in Ancient Greece because of the apple(and the references to Greek and Roman gods in the past 2 games), or something entirely different.
