So ya, since the DmC trailer last year at TGS, people have been kind of meh and negative about the new Devil May Cry prequel being made by Ninja Theory(creators of Enslaved:Odyssey to the West).

Well apparently, they have a new trailer up for E3 this week, and here it is:

So what are people's opinions of said game now???

Still looks kind of iffy to me, but its a move in the right direction.

I think DMC 4 proved even after MGS 2 also proved that people don't like a change in main character so people still won't like this no matter what they do.

Honestly, I have a hard time even seeing what the hell is going on in this trailer. Everything just moves way too choppy.

Of course not. I mean honestly you're taking them out of their comfort zone away from the Dante they grew up with and this may or may not be a likable character.

It's such a huge gamble that Capcom is taking. One can only hope it turns out alright, even if I do enjoy the game I will not refer to this character as Dante. I just can't

I dunno... I'm still not sold just yet, especially when some of those attacks seemed to ripped straight from Nero in DMC4. And "Dante's" hair turns white when he activated Devil Trigger? Hmm...

Ok this got my hopes up. Why!? The gameplay looks like it's pretty damn fun although a bit choppy and not as fluid as one would hope, but then again neither was DMC3.

What really caught my interest was Dante breaking out his Red Coat and White hair in what looks like a new form of Devil Trigger.

Hmmm I'm anticipating this game but am quite skeptical of what they plan to do. I can only hope this is his beginning tale and that he'll evolve back into the Dante we all know and love. Secondly this new character still seems uninteresting to me. I've yet to hear any dialogue (WTF Google Chrome doesn't know how to spell Dialogue?!) from him, seen any personality traits or hear any of his snappy one liners that make him the smartass he is supposed to be.

Still a huge gamble but quite an improvement. Plus the beginning has me quite intrigued with the whole Writings on the wall.

STORY so far : Good and interesting
Gameplay : looks fun and opens up possibilities for great amount of combos
Design: Meh, I'm hoping they'll do something about it that let's us all know that the REAL DANTE is still kicking

I'm really itching for a new Devil May Cry. Though the Dante redesign looks strange, in the sense that it's odd that he has short hair now, I can get over it.

Looks cool,commence the haters now!
Amazingly no hate from me yet....and I can't stand the anorexic Ethiopian Dante look.

Honestly everything about this trailer has me sold besides the design. I can only hope that sometime during or at the end he becomes the Dante that everyone wants.

So I'll still be enjoying this game while holding up a huge middle finger at the Conceited Jackass head of Ninja Theory who thought it would be a great idea to make the New Dante look like him.

Meh, not for me. Devil May Cry 4 was alright, this just seems like a a generic hack and slash.

I'm sorry to all the haters but it looks as if their taking the road of Tony radcliff (dante's fake name hence the don't believe all the lie thing) on his discovery of who he really is as Dante. I honestly hop that's what they're doing or at least after the part where he found out who he really is. I can't wait for this game although before it seemed as if they were doing a reboot, thinking back to other DMC titles, the weapons are probably unlock able and the looks may just be his before white haired Dante self. I don't think we know enough as a community nor can we say anything judgemental about this game because the designers are so tight lipped about what the actual story is.

I think they coulda cleaned it up a bit, but hey, its DMC. Besides, not many games can confidently use gameplay as their trailer. And I liked the choice of music.
Overall, I'd say it was not much to look at, but it was definitely eye catching. And without question I'm getting this game.
EDIT: oh, and the reason the gameplay looked so meh was because they probably put more effort into the world seeing as its bigger than any previous DMC game and it looks to open world as well. Maybe even have a 2 worlds type thing going on a la Zelda Twilight.

Is no-one else seeing that he kind of turns into good old Dante when he activates that thing, like Devil Trigger? He totally does! White hair and actual red coat! There's some story there people! He's turning into to Dante, or something.

Calumon: He needs a hair cut. :3

i'm confident: ninja theory made enslaved and heavenly sword, which were good because of their fighting engines. and what makes DMC so fucking epic?

it's fighting engine.

and, yeah, the cool characters and bosses. besides, these guys are also fantastic at creating good characters and decent stories- something not many game developers can claim. i trust these guys- you will too.

(as long as they make the game longer than they're predecessors and give it a better ending than the ABSOLUTE WORST ENDING IN THE HISTORY OF EVER! that was in enslaved.)

Same. In other words I'm willing to put up with That conceited ass known as the head of Ninja Theory who thought it'd be great to make this Dante look like him. Either way it seems interesting, fun and what not. hell I loved Nero! He was freaking great, but this is a huge gamble in my opinion and I can only hope that this story serves as a precursor to Tony Redgraves becoming Dante.....hmmm I wonder if Vergil is involved in anyway. If not then good. We need to get Kamiya's ass back in CAPCOM ASAP
