You're all a bit optimistic to be honest. If such a drug were ever to be produced it would only be available to the rich and ultra rich. Discrimination galore I guess.
Cool, when you decided to die at 35, I'll just take all your shit. Thanks guy!

Disagreed. I think it would be made available to the "middle" class. To make the rich get richer, of course.
I think it would really depend on how much is costs to make and how abundant the resources to make it are.

So we can expect to see this sort of thing [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KShkhIXdf1Y] in the near future then, eh?

To the wary amongst you: it's a certain Viagra commercial.

If it slows the ageing process, keeping my pretty face then sign me up.

My Economics teacher did say our generation has a chance of having very long lives. He was a goodun of a teacher.

To hell with you whiny pessimists, as far as I'm concerned as the dominant species of the planet, hell, the solar system we have manifest destiny on everything revolving around the sun, if not further. This is just the first step in achieving those goals.

Question number 1
Do I really wanna live to 150 years?
Question number 2
-HOW- exactly will I be living till 150 years? I can't imagine me looking all shrivled up and still living like I should be right?

And then of course, why do we keep meddeling with nature's course?
Everything is supposed to die sometime right?
No, the idea is that these drugs will be able to force the body to repair itself. Which, as far as I know, has only been able to work in the nervous system (As a treatment for Alzheimer's). Anyway, if this does work, you won't look all shriveled up, you will look as you do normally. Except you won't be able to do normal things, because you will experience bone decay at the same rate that you do now, so when you try to run every bone in your legs and in your back will break. Seems sort of far fetched.

Good news everyone! Now I won't need a fake ID to watch ultra-porn!

Seriously though I'd totally take this drug. Even if my social security died at 70 I could feasibly learn to be a farmer and live a completely self-sufficienct lifestyle in retirement.

But let's keep this on the down-low, eh? If the Baby Boomers catch wind of this they might try to live another twenty years, and then BAM! John McCain for Prez 2058. We'll never get rid of them.

So basicall I'll look good but still be in a wheelchair because of fragile bones for the coming 70 years then? Hrm. I think I still prefer death at 80 :p

Would be nice to see everything still clear and remember everything properly. Mmm... But I think those years in a wheelchair or in bed is to much.

I don't understand how they expect to make this work at all, originally it was intended to help old people's brains not fall apart, but the idea that it can keep our organs working for 70 more years is beyond me. And definitely beyond the 10 years they say we are going to have to wait for this.

This terrifies me. What people would actually want to be that old? It sounds fun now, but eventually, in my case, you would become more unstable.

I was planning to live 149 years anyway, and i will try every day to remind myself that i need to repay society for funding my childhood.

I don't believe medical discoveries are doing much to advance human life. As fast as we create ways to extend it we are inventing ways to shorten it.

I'm all for it. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes not too long ago, and anything that extends my life is alright by me. Of course, I am now healthier than ever, as I have to eat better and exercise more.
