Did I say that wasn't the point?

Being 'The Point' doesn't excuse it from being stupid, unbelievable, and a really anti-climactic ending to the first sequence in the movie that actually got me excited.
It doesn't need to excuse it, because it's pointing at how stupid these practices are. Practices that occur in big businesses all the time.

And the climax of that scene was not Robocop taking on ED-209, but him getting mercilessly gunned down (again) after finding out he's just a product with no free will.

I can see that the only way I'm going to enjoy this movie is divorce it entirely from the original.
The original Robocop wasn't some Raiden-like cyberninja, he was more a walking tank. Maybe he was designed to be more dynamic but the costume limited his movement I don't know. The film itself was an over the top commentary on the logical conclusion of unchecked 80's style excess (which in some ways we've already lived through), so I can see how they've needed to change the "message" to a more modern one.
There just seems to be something lacking about this one, it seems too by the numbers and looks like Robo-Batman vs Terminator. There's no "wow, I haven't seen that" factor to it that makes me want to put my bum in the seat.

America is robophobic? Boy this really is a sci-fi movie, isn't it? There are only two countries in the world that would allow robots in the streets. Japan because they think it's cool and the US because they like to control their population and then feed them stories about their freedom.

Well, they got one thing right. Don't try to duplicate the movie you're remaking. Glad to see they're doing their own thing, if nothing else. Still could suck, but it's got potential to be something now, rather than just forgettable.

We don't just eat the freedom stories. We also rename our food to include the word "freedom" and then eat THAT. Remember 2003 when the US Congress cafeteria renamed "French Fries" as "Freedom Fries" in protest of the French opposition to the US invasion of the middles east? Yeah. So we've got that going for us. Mmmmmmm. Yummy freedom.

Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live reported on this with "In a related story, France has renamed American Cheese, Stupid Cheese."

Nope, still going to suck major balls. It may not make me weep for humanity and scream curses at Hollywood but it'll still be a profanity. I don't get it. Why do all those corporations need to piss on what is good? Why is it so hard to change the goddamn title? In majority of cases they won't have to need to change anything else about the movie/game and in the rest some minor design and/or plot details.

This actually does look more promising. Still not sold though.

But seriously, we need to lose the gloss black paint. He looks SO much better in plain unpainted metal

This looks pretty promising. Both trailers basically gave away the plot, but it's also a reboot so I guess it'd be easy to guess anyway. It's also good to see Michael Keaton getting more work. I love that guy.

Can I just gather all your quotes in this thread and re-post them in big bright neon letters?
No one else seems to understand what this movie is about. -_-

OT: That trailer was a bit better than the last on, I agree.

Gotta say I laughed like hell at Samuel L Jackson yelling 'robophobic!'

Still not convinced though its a least slightly better than the first trailer.

First of all thank you for making the news embed videos to not autoplay. thank you, thank you.

As for the trailer, why was it i feel like robocop is the badguy here? So they saved his life, put him in superior body and allowed him to be better, so what does he do? kill them for it!

Consider my mind blown!

The only thing I don't like is the fact he just looks like a guy in armor, he even has a hand of human flesh still, that's waiting to be shot at...

I am slightly interested now. They do need to can this PG13 bullshit and go all the way too far enough with a solid R. Some of the more memorable scenes from the originals were the entire reason they got the R. Just sayin...

You do realize they were probably the ones who blew him up and tried to mind control him, right? He gets pissed and is all like, "Row row, FIGHT THE POWER!" So he shoots them. In the face. Repeatedly.

And the joke of that whole metaphor is that everyone is corrupt, and the only person who isn't was programmed not to be.

"Serve the public trust.
Protect the innocent.
Uphold the law."
