I've been having issues with the PC version, sadly. My computer shuts down, as if it had overheated, but my GPU is the only piece over 40C, and it doesn't even hit 60C. I'm fairly sure the game is doing it, as a bunch of other people with varying machines are having the same problem.

Edit - It isn't just me, and it isn't overheating - http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/456889-skyrim-complete-pc-crashes/
Par for the course for Bethesda, and equally par for them to not give even one fuck.
This is why I don't bother with their games anymore.

Before some smartass quips "BUT THAT CAN HAPPEN WITH ALL PC GAMES", I haven't had nearly as many problems with other 360 ports as I ever have had with any given Bethesda game.

Mass Effect 1 and 2? Perfectly fine.
Borderlands? BioShock? Runs great!
Deus Ex: Human Revolution? All Valve titles (which to be fair, the Source engine was native to PC first, before it was modded to run on consoles)?
Even the infamously buggy GTA: SA and DMC4 ran fine on my machine.

But Fallout 3 and Oblivion? I spent more time recovering from crashes and fixing those games than I did playing them...mind you...ON THE SAME PC THAT RAN EVERYTHING ON THE LIST ABOVE.

So with a Bethesda game, either you win the hardware lottery, you play it on a console (fine, but not an option for me), or you spend hours dealing with game crashes and bugs.
If a company abjectly refuses to address those sorts of issues, then they don't deserve my money.

I swear I'm raging at all these glitches

Let's see...

there's the glitch where arrows won't go away
there's the glitch where you can't buy the house in windhelm
there's SEVERAL glitches that make it so quests can't be completed, or they don't even trigger.

Mind you, this is just what I've been experiencing.

I'm trying to buy the house in windhelm but even after doing all the quests and helping all the people the stuart still says that there's been some "unpleasantness" and he won't let me buy it. And Blood on the ice won't trigger/

You know, I have a lot of fun when the game actually decides to work, but all these bugs are making me thing I should've just gotten assassin's creed.

EDIT: You know what I just found out? Blood on the ice won't trigger because the victim also happened to be a contract for the dark brotherhood questline.....

WELL WHAT THE FUCK? What is that about? That's a completely gamebreaking, and it's not even a glitch. Who at Bethesda let this one slide, huh? Ugh...

I was about to get the PS3 version until I heard about the lag. I try not to support Steam DRM, but the PC version is great so far.  Only problem is if the keys are rebound, it does not show the rebindings in the menu, and I can't plug in a controller that isn't for the XBox.  Hopefully patches or mods will fix that.

But the PC version in this case does seem to be prevailing. Graphics may be a little basic but nothing wrong with high resolutions, antialiasing, and good framerates.

I play my copy of Skyrim on the PC with an xbox controller with a chair that reclines. Can totally have both worlds.
I play it on my PC plugged into my TV, on a chair that reclines, with the keyboard on my lap and mouse on a side table. Both worlds indeed.

Playing on the 360 and I haven't had really any issues. My game has froze twice but for a Bethesda game that is awesome.

So PC's crash and in some cases have bugs and quest issues so bad the game is rendered unbeatable, the PS3 lags and stutters like a beast and the 360 version looks like shit.

I'm glad I never, EVER buy Beth games on release right about now.

The constant ejaculation of the fanboys can't change the fact that the game is clearly broken
Can't comment on the consoles, but PC wise, the problems are mostly configuration specific. Meaning, while you will hear a loud outcry from those with the issues, most of the users (myself included) will never encounter most, if any of those problems.

There are things I wish were done differently in the game, but broken is not the description I could give out over any issue I've had.

At times like these, perhaps it's best to just be patient, and take a moment to appreciate that we game in an age where developers can remotely fix large problems like this at all.
You go right ahead and do that. I'll remember better times, when patching wasn't an option and game companies had to test the hell out of stuff to make sure it worked before they started asking money for it.

Extensive product testing is a reality in every other industry.

My save is at nearly 8MB and I may get a few seconds here and there of lag every 30 minutes or so. It's not that big of a deal.
Same thing here, but I still hope they fix it.

Good to see I am yet to hit this lag threshold. What sort of point does it start? Also, when do you suppose this patch is coming? Or is it out now?

So, why was erztez suspended? Because he corrected me in a rude fashion? I wasn't offended.

As a PC gamer, I am personally loving the fact that the game is consistent with textures, performance and I can fix any game-breaking bugs. However, I am not loving the random (but, admittedly, incredibly smooth) crashes to desktop.
Nice. Smooth crashes. See it's a perfectly fine engine.

I'm glad the PC version has no such problems.
And that it has mods, though I'm gonna finish the game before installing any in case they turn off achievements.
But after that I'll immediately add a house with enough chests.
Since thousands of items in a single chest makes the game very slow when you try to store something...

I did have an npc stuck in the ground though...
And several crashes.
And the sound of the wind like it the top of a snowy mountain that kept playing, no matter where I went.
I don't have that last one anymore, though, since my laptop died and I can't access that save.

I stopped playing when my save got to 5 MB and went back to Dark Souls. Apart from the lag, there have been reports of world and NPC corruption, and I don't trust them to fix something like that, even if they claim so, because, well, they are not very good at coding and stuff. My Fallout 3 GOTY (PS3) is a living testament to that, it's broken and they never even attempted to fix it.

I read this while I wasn't experiencing problems. 102 hours in, I just started experiencing problems... At least I knew what was going on.
