So its just a regular case. With holes in it. So the discs get scratched and dirty. And they are chargeing more. Brilliant. I am really starting to hate this go green craze.

I think they've overstating the benefits a bit but anything that doesn't cost more and is better for the environment is cool.

Pretty cool. I expect this to become standard amongst the big 3. I don't see any reason Nintendo or Sony will turn this down.
they probably will come out with versions aswell,

its a gimmick so it amazes me that sony hasn't ripped it off yet and Nintendo didn't invent it lol

by cutting 20% out of the case you save 20% in emissions? so the more you cut out the more you save, but the more you cut out the more you expose your disk.

so really your saving in one area while fuxing your game

This is cool but is 20% less plastic the best they can do? It really doesn't seem like much especially all the crazy, super hip eco-stuff they have nowadays.
But either way, NEAT!

They could have taken this further with, you know, do it on the entire box rather than carve a recycling logo in the center.

soon, we will not have cases, just DLC for all games, and then, who will care.
Oh god I hope not... I like hard copies...
so you want to pay more for games, because games will have to become cheaper once only on DLC.

Got I hope not...given how all these DRM bullshits are being dealt.

I'd just LOVE to have no access to my games anytime I don't have internet access.

They haven't and they won't. If anything they'll charge more for "convenience". That's the excuse I got last time I inquired why it was more expensive for the digital copy.

it would be saved to a memory unit on the console, the way things memory space is going, there will be enough space, and steam is cheaper than console games, (from what i got)

If they really want to save the environment, go 100% digital distribution.

This would work were there not XBox360 users who have no Internet.

The only time I get anything cheaper off of steam is when I get those mega bundles they do.

Otherwise every single hard copy I've purchased from Amazon in the last year was cheaper (with free shipping).

The new packaging, already in use by movie companies for the last two years, reduces the amount of plastic used in traditional boxes by 20%.

This is the kind of story which warms the cockles of my heart.
Seems a bit lame actually. 20% reduction in plastic? Okay, so now we're killing the planet - but 20% slower. I've got a better idea - what about going to online distro models completely and saving both of these things by 100%. Or if we must have a physical product, how about just not having any plastic in the box AT ALL apart from the disc itself. Quick, someone make me Environment Minister.
