soon, we will not have cases, just DLC for all games, and then, who will care.
Oh god I hope not... I like hard copies...
so you want to pay more for games, because games will have to become cheaper once only on DLC.
Go on steam, check out the prices on there. Modern Warfare 2 is £40. I could get a disc version cheaper than that.

The Xbox games on demand service charges £20 per game, even though some of them I can attain for £5-10 from a retailer.

Digital distribution wont be cheaper, there's not enough distributors in that sector which means there's not enough competition for price wars.

There's also the issue that if DD is the only way to buy games, then the distributors will have to spend a lot on servers, which means what? oh yeah, more cost to the consumers!

I like the new boxes; they make me want to throw away the old boxes in the ocean.
But seriously, they look good and if it's for the ecosystem then it's better.

Maybe they should start sending them in paper sleeves.

TBH this isn't 'environmentally friendly' - it still damages the environment.
It's 'less environmentally damaging than the other option'
Products exist and are sold-to be sold they usually have to be placed in packaging. If you reduce the environmental impact of the packaging it is an improvement. Small types in efficiency eventually lead to large improvements-the refrigerators of today are significantly more efficient at cooling than they were in the past. This leads to a great reduction in the energy burden posed on the environment by refrigerators. It's true that not using a refrigerator at all would be even better for the environment, but I think your rotting meat and rancid milk would probably convince you that they are an essential product.

Boxes for games won't be going anyway anytime soon-so this option is a way to reduce the burden posed by the boxes that will be produced regardless of their environmental friendliness.

Kind of like how food products that have 33% less saturated fat fat still have more fat than if you didn't take them in the first place.
Well gee, you have to eat something. You're right that these products will likely still not be healthy, but they're still an improvement.

Why can't we make them out of wood?
That is much less environmentally friendly than the modest amount of plastic employed. Plus we'd probably end up with lawsuits over splinters.

Ah, but then, the tree-huggers start with their bitchin and moaning. That's the thing with eco'tards, you can't win. Make it out of plastic, the ocean protection and anti-landfill groups cry. Make it out of wood/paper, the treefuckers cry. How about something made from elephant shit, well then the animal rights bastards step in to make sure it's all natural shit, not from any caged animals. You can't win. You can however shoot environmentalists and dump their bodies in a landfill. That would be the preferable option.
I don't get what those "eco'tards" don't get. Some (or most) landfills have trees planted over them for paper/wood use...

I'm liking the shooting them and dumping them into landfills, but there's a better use for their bodies: turn them into the game cases. Just use their skin and turn it into leather. We've have leather cases for games! Leather!
