Well, we can't to the farm belt. In 100 years without man around, anything left standing from the bombs would be taken out by tornados.

I'd like to see a snow setting, or any weather for that matter...
How about the northern states? How about Canada? If it was Annexed, it's still technically the US.

Wow,way to be a boring,patronising git.
I'm going to go for a walk to get away from this nonsense as it's giving me a headache :]
He isn't being boring or patronising.

You can't just create a Fallout game set in Europe without giving a good reason as to why there are people or civilisations there, Bethesda didn't give a good enough reason for the BoS being in Fallout 3 or the Super Mutants.

Fallout 3 already fucked up the lore and made Fallout stupid and "for teh lulz and lootz". I know I personally never want to see that again, that is why the Wild Wasteland trait was made. Also if you can't be bothered to look up the Fallout history and storyline and know why a game couldn't be set in England then you shouldn't be making comments like these, it isn't us being patronising, you're just being ignorant of Fallout lore.
Oh nooooo i'm being ignorant of the fallout lore!!!
I don't think you realise how little of a fuck i give.
Please go away.
If you don't care enough to defend your points, don't bother posting. If you're going to spout crap on a soapbox, do that crap on twitter or Facebook. Not here. The Escapist demands discussion, not mindless spewing of opinions.
Fuck off you arrogant ****,how's that for an opinion? :D :D :D :D
You all keep sending me messages when i'd be more than happy to let it lie.
Go on,reply to this i dare you.
Go ahead, keep replying like that and see what happens.
Oh noooo i might get banned how awful, self righteous ****.

That was actually a plothole.

There could be survivors in Britain, they don't require vaults. You could survive in a variety of ways.
Yes but it's a plot hole that is canon ;) There isn't anything to say that perhaps one of the Mariposa scientists stole it and handed it over ot the likes of Braun or others. You could easily make a backstory.

There is nothing to say that there wasn't vaults in Britain 100% in canon, Europe is a large and diverse place, so I don't think it would be that jarring and anti canon myself.

That's your response?

You would be very bad at debating.

Please give me an intelligent response and then I might go away.

London!

When my friend and I were walking around the other week (being the keen nerds we are), we were highlighting places that could be used in a Fallout: London game. Just think about it; it would be awesome. Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, O2 Arena, Thames, London Eye etc etc.
This thread has been done many times but I have to agree with this post. In one of the previous threads, I revealed that me and a mate had done pretty much the same thing.

Aside from the well-known landmarks and using the tube tunnels to move between cells, we also opined that London-Zoo would be a good source for mutated animals and, what with the Fallout world being retro, a good scattering of nulear-powered black cabs, old London buses and traditional Policeman's uniforms all over.

Possible gangs / factions could be:

The Bobbies ("bobbies" being twee-slang for "Policemen") - a group deidicated to bringing law and civilisation back to London.

The Pearlies - Based on Pearly Kings and Queens, these cockney-accented folk would play a similar role to The Kings from New Vegas.

Hooligans - The raiders of London. Inspired by old newspaper clippings, these lawless thugs belived that old-world football hooligans were actually a mighty warrior-tribe and seek to emulate them. Idea based on the "Ice-Gangs" mentioned in Fallout 3.

As for vault locations, well it would be a no-brainer to suggest that Buckingham Palace, Westminster and 10 Downing Street would all have shelters although I doubt Vaults would be found as Vault-Tec seems to be an American-based company only. Tube tunnels could have been used (like in WW2) and other shelters must exist. The real-life London is riddled with underground chambers, tunnels and so on.

If anyone knows of a LiveJournal community (or similar) where this is discussed at length, please point me in it's direction!

Use obsidians writing and game design team. Only bring the coders on board if they are SURE they are up to it, not just have a hunch about being so.

I'd really like to see the rest of the world. What happened to Europe, China.. etc. Also, as brought up before, it'd be nice to see some vehicles for a change.

A Fallout set in the Eastern Bloc would be nice, I'm thinking like Poland or maybe Czech Republic seeing as how a post-nuclear Russia would be a little to obvious.

The music is a big deal. May I recommend anything but country? In NV I left the radio off because the DJ was boring. Three dog was cool because he had serious style. Fun DJ is a must.

Use new york, chicago, denver, or detroit! Detroit. The factories, the river, the drastic differences between one side of town and the other. Detroit is a huge industrial area. That would be killer. :D

In 3 the super mutants were inhuman, stupid, and so evil. The NV mutants were terribly benign and it was difficult to get interested with them being so intelligent and social. More variety of enemies. Though these are not FPS' they definitely are better with the battle aspect. I like to find creative ways to fight, like how to kill a behemoth in one blow, etc. There should be some odd side quests in the next one that challenge the player to do things, like insane sniping, kill this enemy without wearing any armor, etc.

No reloading and crafting. It was annoying and not worth the time. You could have a vendor that you take your spent materials to and they could do the reloading for you.

In 3 you did some talking, but not endlessly. You'd talk to someone and then have to go on a journey to accomplish something. In NV you did almost nothing but walk and talk. Like the guys you would talk to and they'd say "I'd do it but I am busy" and the person they wanted to talk to was on the other side of the camp... gimme a break. Give me a puzzle, something hard to do. I don't play games to be a messenger.

I liked the vault dweller. The next character could be someone in the Enclave or some other noteworthy group. I was happy to be able to choose a good or bad side, or somewhere in the middle in 3. In NV there was no real difference. Everything was catch 22, so why bother?

Rather than two hundred years or so later, try setting it ten or twenty years after the bombs fell. The challenge of surviving the environment issues and the chaos would be cool.

My nephew and I loved blowing up megaton and hearing deputy weld promise that the bomb was perfectly safe. It's such a moody game; some satire must be thrown in to keep it fun.

Extensive testing of these games is a must. Both 3 and NV are so glitched that you sometimes cant play the game, see where you are going, fall through the ground, or the game machine locks up and you have to shut it down.

Imagine a half destroyed London run by a gentlemanly ghoul dictator, voiced by Gary Oldman. Need.
It must be done!

OT: As much as a Fallout: London would be awesome, it just wouldn't be "Fallouty." There would be no BoS, (probably) no deathclaws, no Enclave, no FEV supermutants, no vaults etc. The list goes on. I'd like to see one that returns to Chicago and its environs, see how the Midwestern Brotherhood is getting along.
Exactly it's not really fallout, outside of America. How about Fallout: Vancouver, or Fallout: Montreal.

I would love to see Fallout's Idea of New York, or Boston. Florida and the Everglades would be interesting.
Actually in the Fallout Universe, Canada became America when the annexed it for clear passage to Anchorage. Introducing Fallout outside of America would need a complete new concept on the Wasteland because those areas would have only been decimated with radiation from the bombs, and from the wars that were fought with the Middle East, the Wasteland would be a lot different. It would be a very interesting thing to see though and I am not opposed to it if they do it properly with GOOD canon.
