Thanks to him I've earned about 10 points in laser weapons! [sub]although how do I learn more by reading the same book over and over again?[/sub]
The radiation gives you memory loss. A regrettable side effect.

Tesla was an eccentric scientist who disagreed with the theory of relativity and went reclusive and senile in his later years inventing Mega Death Rays and was regarded as a mad scientist by the populous.

So basically he's awesome. I've always been a fan.

So after a recent thread i just looked at i realized how under appreciated Nikola Tesla was until just lately, its true bull crap i mean thanks to thomas edison who stole some of Tesla's ideas and basicaly tried to ruin him we lost 1 of the greastest scientists on earth so i ask how do you feel about this.
I know it's not relevant to the thread but you get points for having a Dr. Ashen avatar.
its brown sofa time!
The best reviewer of tat and crap ever. Actually he's had a few gems on there. God what do you say he reviews?! ...Let's just stick with tat.

Yeah tesla was amazing, his ideas where incredible, very few other inventors have created as many practical ideas as him, though divinci is prety up there too. But death rays and wireless electricity kinda trump balsa and canvas wings lol

Btw can I be part of the group too? lol

I perfer Leonardo Da Vinica, but I looked up Telsa and well it seems he didn't invent much but his ideas seemed to help with are current technology, I wouldn't say he is as more under appreciated as any other great inventor.
Wireless electricity? The man could do things with technology we are only catching up to now. Know why we didn't get it? Thomas Edison. Stole Teslas Electricity and the Movie Camera from someone else.

According to Wikipedia he lived through 1856-1943 and 66 years later we've caught up it took us Leonardo Da Vinci lived roughly around the 17th centery and it took about 200 years to caught up too him but like I said all inventors are pretty under appreciated by the masses, and Telsa did come up with some interesting ideas so yeah...
I didnt know the tesla coil and the death ray were interesting.
they didn't work did they?

This guy was epic, from melting his assistance hand and creating earth quakes (apparently), he did some crazy stuff. Oh and was played by david bowie so that is also plus XD

Nikola Tesla was brilliant, and tremendously unappreciated during his own lifetime.
Jack White thought so too, and references Tesla as an inspiration in his music, as well as referencing him directly in 'Astro', on The White Stripes' self titled album.

Theres a nikola tesla group? he was inspirational. I was particularly interested in his moves for de-centralised power facilities, ac/dc etc. One can only guess what else he was working upon on his untimely demise. Humanity lost a great mind with his passing.

The difference is that Tesla's designs actually ya know... Worked.
Leonardo's tank thing worked fine.
For about 5 meters.
Damn man, I was gonna take this if you werent... Blast!

People who say Da Vinci invented the helicopter need to be slapped... he invented the giant corkscrew on wheels.

We're talking about a man who found the resonant frequency of the earth and could, had the thought crossed his mind, have set off a series of earthquakes that literally would have torn the crust apart. Nuclear weapons kinda pale by comparison.

Nikola Tesla is my second favorite inventor/scientist next to Da Vinci.

Fuck Edison.
Seconded!

If you look at Edison you notice something... it was his COMPANY that 'invented' these things and not the man himself. Other people did all the inventing, but they where either in his employ, hence the company owned the patent, or the rights to the invention where bought out and then passed off as one of the companies own inventions. Even in a few cases, when the inventers wouldn't sell the company just ripped off the patent in any case! That led to more then a handful law suits against Edison that often ended with a back stabbing, that is Edison would settle with shares in his company and defacto 'buy' the patent... then slowly edge the original patent holder out of the company and be left holding the patent.

Tesla was one such scientist in the employ of the company right up to the point Edison personally back stabbed him. See Edison promised tens of thousands of dollars, at the time a princely sum, to Tesla if he used his inventions to improve on the devices Edison company was producing. After filling his end of the deal Tesla was told it was all 'American humour' and was NOT paid. Edison kept the improved devices though....

Just shows you what sort of man Edison was, and the Americans worship him as some sort of genius. The only thing he really was good at was ripping other people off! Then again, with the vast majority worshiping the rich it probably explains why he is consider the Americans greatest inventor.

It is like trying to say that Bill Gates is the greatest computer programmer ever even though all, including dos, of his 'inspirations' where written by other people. Marketing genius he is, but he is far from the worlds best computer programmer.

Ah, while I have been pointing out the misconceptions you cannot deny, that with the proper materials and backing, he WOULD have invented the helicopter.
And Tesla is SOOO much cooler.

His design couldnt provide the lift needed... it wouldnt work as a helicopter. I guess he COULD have designed it if he changed his design.
