Nintendo launching new 2012 console, More powerful than PS3/360

Hopefully we'll see more third-party titles coming out for this new console, but Nintendo borderlines xenophobic when it comes to anything other than what they make/publish. Literally the reason why I stopped using my Wii.

anyone remember gamecube? it was more powerful than the ps2 but it didnt change the fact that it was crap. i have long since lost faith in nintendo

Making it more powerful than the PS3 or 360 isn't really that impressive, since the hardware in both consoles is pretty laughable by today's PC gaming standards. I can't imagine that it will be as powerful as some of the PC rigs out there today. Probably not even as powerful as MY rig, which was upper-mid tier as of last year when I built it.

Still, as long as it's HD, isn't focused on motion control bullshit (PLEASE don't do this again Nintendo), and has some core franchise games on launch, it should do very well. The public is ready for the next generation of hardware, and Microsoft has shown that being first out of the gate is a very big advantage over the competition.

I'm really worried that it's simply going to be an HD version of the Wii, complete with Wiimote and shitty classic controller. God, I hope they make a new controller similar to a 360 or maybe even PS3 pad. I used to be a total Nintendo fanboy, but the Wii just made me very sad to be a gamer.

Yay, cos the Wii was shit. No good games and terrible graphics, hopefully that will change and we won't just get a bunch of 1st party sequels again

If it's a new console based around motion controls though, it can go straight to hell.

Given that Nintendo consider the motion controls to be their biggest step forward, I'm afraid I don't think they'll be taking anything that they consider a step backwards. Worse still, no amount of gamer pleading will alter their mindset because we all know what Nintendo thinks of their old audience...

It's part of the reason I got a 360, and probably the whole reason I can't see myself getting whatever it turns out to be at the next E3.

Here's hoping they surprise me.

I'm not jumping on any bandwagon. I was excited for the Wii when it first came out but was horribly disappointed by it. There were no games I enjoyed for it aside from Metroid Prime and it was all gimmicky shovelware bullshit. The only other games available were the flailing type.

I played it extensively trying to find something worth a shit on it and the only redeemable quality was the virtual console but playing old games on a new console shouldn't count considering I still have the old consoles.

And yes, I play games to relax and to unwind or to just be immersed into something else.
Shit motion control doesn't do that for me.

Because shoting peoples brains out, dodging projectiles, smashing heads, decapitating people and so forth is soo relaxing, huh? X3
Not to mention escaping from an self-destructing station, hordes of demons, messing around with inventory to find a healing potion etc.

To some people, games like the ones you described, with your normal button controls, are far more immersing than motion controls. To people like you, I shall assume that motion controls are more immersing.

Some people find the Wii's controls shithouse, others (again, you're the prime example here) find them very good.

Nothing against you or anyone else. People have different tastes, and at the end of the day an opinion is an opinion.

Yeah; I don't particularly care what Nintendo does, but I hope this doesn't spur Microsoft and Sony into releasing new consoles... I can't really afford a new one right now. :/

well Microsoft already announced they will be making a new console, but Sony denounced the claims they were.

I doubt this is true.

However, if it is, I have to wonder how much more powerful it would be than the PS3/360. Would like to see the specs first, after all the 3DS was said to be "more powerful" than the PSP, and the NGP comes along and blows it out of the water.

Err, the 3DS is more powerful than the PSP. They never claimed it would be more powerful than the unreleased NGP. Given that the 360/PS3 are still stuck with DirectX 9-level hardware and you can get a DirectX 11 card anywhere from $150 and up, I'd expect this new system will be at least 1.5x as powerful as the 360/PS3. And they could probably charge $400 for that console.

Yeah, that's what I meant, the 3DS is more powerful than a PSP (though only a bit more powerful when looking at the specs, apparently, as I am not a hardware guy), but the NGP comes along and blows the 3DSs specs out. Just more competition for the latest and greatest.

Not the best segway into that, I'm sure.

How funny too, after all these years of hemming and hawing over the next-gen consoles, I finally get around to trying the PS3 and Xbox360. Having worked my way through a decent amount of games and demos from the latter's libraries, I finally resolve to try the Wii, and the day before I am set to go out and purchase a Wii this announcement comes out.

So what Nintendo? The Xbox 360 is around 5 years old and the PS3 is around 4 years old. You´re to late to state your up and coming console is going to be better then them, It´s expected that it is megrumpy.jpg

Besides that you will be in third place once again(graphics) once Sony and Micro$oft comes out with there next gen console >.<
