Yeah, let's have a petition over the timeline of a series with an over-arching story as screwed up as MGS's! Yeah, that'll work!
Didn't you know? This is the best way to write fiction. Ever. Of all time.
It's fan fiction. Does anyone care?
Apparently so, judging by the fervor seen when people argue about who's dating who in various works.
"Oh, because Ganondorf and Link fight each other a lot, they must love each other!" That seems to be the logic of most fan fic writers.
While that is horrib;e logic, when someone invests time into creating a fanfic, they become hostile towards criticism, jist like anybody.

If someone is writing fics with LinkXZelda pairing, and someone else then writes one with a LinkXPuto pairing, that's a comment about the first writer's work. Last time I checked, people occasionally respond negatively towards criticism, so you get an argument between the two authors. The people who read their stories have also invested time into the fics, so they will defend their favorite because the other option is to admit that they've been wasting their lives.

People will get pissed when their work gets snubbed/criticized, even if it's bad, because they've spent time on it.
You see with those two they make sense. (Even though I don't know who Puto is) But there are people who pair James with Pyramid Head!
It's supposed to be an R for Ruto.

Frankly, I'm not surprised by any pairing that involves two humanoid characters. You need to start getting into the SamusXRidley stuff, you know when it approaches beastiality, or some such, for me to be surprised.

Well it is sort of common knowledge that Nintendo has (as of late,) been a for-profit company to the core ...
Because they used to be a charity or something?

Well I just stopped by the point I learned of Deathclaw porn.
Ah, good old Rule 34, where would we be without you?

Probably in a freaking utopia by now.

Nintendo's explanation makes sense, so I can't really understand the petition.

There have only been a few Zelda games that were explicitly linked (pun intended): there's no real need for continuity anyway.

NOOOO!

I just spent part of my day researching this Zelda stuff and now learn that there is no story line.

I just found some of the stuff interesting. Reincarnation of heroes is always fun.

We'd still have 4chan though.
That's why it would be a utopia. Without everything having sex with everything else, the wierd people are more noticeable. They then seek refuge with more of their kind, which happens to be the environment 4chan creates.

Speaking as someone whose played almost all of them, I thought the games were pretty blunt about the fact that there is no continuity. Link, Zelda, and Ganon just get reincarnated over and over.

That, and the fact that your main character never talks, which makes you wonder what would even be the point of having them all link up anyways.
well i've played most all of them too and i seem to remember that most of them make references to the others. in fact MOST of them reference ocarina of time. they cant ALL be separate. personally i think his split timeline is great. that would mean there are a few links. not one for every game but a few. OBVIOUSLY Ocarina of time and majora's mask are linked and wind waker is a new start but still years after OoT, as well as twilight princess, idk i dont care that much to sit down and try to draw out a timeline. but i do think that the constant arguing fanboys is funny.

What a cop out! You can't just say "It's a new Link every time unless it directly stated it wasn't." That's like saying there are several dozen different Marios. This is just a cover up to make it so you have to spend half the game getting all of your items back. I can't believed I ever gave Nintendo the benefit of the doubt. O well. I'll just look at a picture I animated of Master Chief stabbing Mario in the face with an energy sword.

If the guy's timeline made sense, why didn't Nintendo just adopt it and make him happy? When they come out with a new game, they don't have to make it fit; just let the fanboys take care of that.

Edit: Upon watching, the guy is kind of a pretentious jerk, so I guess he deserves to get shot down by Nintendo.

do you honestly think they watched his video? lol. they probly have that letter on file and just forward it to ANYONE who sends them something related to the story.

You have to retrain your characters in the LotR games, which makes even less sense.

I kinda think it's better this way. Think about it; given what Nintendo's said, we've got to assume that every Zelda game (except the ones that are directly connected, like Ocarina and Wind Waker) is a story that stands on it's own, or to put it in quasi-scientific lingo, takes place in a different reality. That means every time a Zelda game comes out, we're getting not the next piece of some overly complex timeline, but merely an alternate interpretation/reality of the original legend, the very first Zelda on the NES.

I think that fits the whole idea of a "Legend" of Zelda better, anyway. You never hear a legend told exactly the same way twice, right?

It wasn't that hard to figure out that each link was a different one... The only exeptions i know of are MM and OoT have the same link and Wind Waker and the DS one who's name escapes me.

Of course they didn't take the time to watch it, but I did, and I think he's a pretentious jerk. As in, before I felt bad for him, but now I don't.

Call me crazy, me thinks Nintendo was thinking about getting a working timeline going then discovered how bloated and plot-hole filled it would be and just decided on, "There is no timeline!" solution.

On the bright side, if you don't like a particular Zelda game, you can close your eyes and cover your ears then hum, "It never happened!" (I'm looking at you Windwaker)
