I still love you Wii. I am very interested in what Nintendo's next move will be though. A consle with PS3 level graphics, and a more sophisticated wii control system perhaps.

Nintendo, like Sega, make awesome games, they had some good consoles but their last ones sucked, Sega realised this and went into game development for other consoles and did well for it, Nintendo, while being in a stronger position than Sega, should do the same.
Uhhh, Nintendo has won the sales race.. The Wii prints money, and the DS prints whole economies.

Sega failed nearly everything they did.

comparing the two of them these days is pretty stupid.

You're right on the DS front, I forgot about that aspect of Nintendo's business.

I believe that the Wii has an extremely limited lifespan. I don't think it has another year in it. The Wiimote gimmick has worn off and now it's just becoming blatantly apparent that it's capabilities are overshadowed by other consoles.

I'm really not sure. If they bring out a Super Wii with full HD, backwards compatibility with Wii/GC games and decent online they'll just be one-upped again by Microsoft and Sony when they release their next consoles. I hope Nintendo aren't destined to be technically inferior from now on. It really does hurt the system. Wii doesn't get mutli-plats like Mirror's Edge because it simply can't run them.

Nintendo's obvious next step in global domination. All of the Wii's in the world will come to life, and hold their users hostage while Miyamoto proclaims himself god-emperor of the earth!

You didn't hear it from me though.

Close the coffin. Simple as that. Nintendo rules the handhelds, but they are losing the console wars faster than the French army can retreat.
What's this? World War II reference?

If so, you fail. Twice over.

1.
The French couldn't retreat, because they'd been invaded. They were surrounded and out-gunned. All they could do was let the army put down their arms to avoid unnecessary casualties. Of course, while there was no organized military anymore, the people still fought back through guerrilla tactics.

2.
Wii: 50+ million units sold
PS3: 23+ million units sold
360: 30+ million units sold

Its pretty simple, a Wii, with actual good graphics.
QFT.

If you combined the Wii's controls with the XPS360's graphics and the PC's online capabilitys, you'd have one awesome console.
Also QFT.

Also, replace New Play Control with HD revamps.

EDIT: Guy above me, Nintendo has been losing 18% of the home console market annually since the Wii first dominated.

I love it when the funny little people disregard the Wii. It's like the 360 and PS3 fanbases are commandos in the woods, and the Wii is Rambo, sent in to kill them all.

Seriously people, the Wii won the console war in terms of sales. Whether or not it is still a "gamer's console" is up for debate, but that's a topic for another thread.

I don't know, what do you do after you make millions?
Make billions?

Their next move?

To drop dead, I hope.
Yeah, that's a realistic response. Wish death upon a company simply because you don't like their console. I hope they don't allow you to breed.

I don't understand the hate for the Wii. By all means, it's a success: it wanted to bring people into gaming, and it did.

They need to do what they used to do.
Never make a next gen console first.
Wait till your opponents make one then one up it. (SMS - NES & Gen - SNES) Or do what they did with the WII. Hear the pricing and make a system catered to those to broke for the others...

Which worked.
Games to a step forward, away from visuals, realistic zits on the heroes faces and became, entertaining a bit of fun. (Not all games of course but you get the gems in the filth that make the system shine)

Or they can do what the Gamecube and N-64 did, ignore what fans want, make bad tech specs, have really bad game line ups and ignore the key franchises till 3 years after release and lose a butt load of cash.

But in the end, it's up to them...

It's a perfectly reasonable response. Less of the money spent on horrible Wii games I hate means more money going to game companies I like, thusly more games I like. What's wrong with that. It's unrealistic. But I acknowledge that. If by some miracle Nintendos millions magically dissappear, I will be very happy.

It's a success largely upon the backs of 9 year olds and grandmas.

That's the smartest thing I have heard anyone say, ever.
I'd buy it day one and spend my time playing Super Mario World 2, fuck modern gaming.

But seriously, if they were bold enough to bring it out with 16bit graphics and titles that connect to the old classics I'd be all over it.
