Since he hasn't been able to activate the game he hasn't agreed to anything concerning DA2. This means that they shouldn't be able to mess with his new copy of the game, however his back log of games is open since, having activated them, he has agreed to their rules. They need to refund his money for the copy of DA2, but I think everything else is open to EA's decisions.

Christ on a stick. Well, that's that. I'm never buying anything from these guys again. It's a good thing Bioware has been getting stale recently.

Ouch now I fully understand what happened to the poster. I read the post made on his alt. account but I still didn't quite get what he meant till now. But ouch that must be painful having 60$ down the drain.

SO the moral of this story is
GAME DEVS ARE PEOPLE TOO AND WILL GET PISSED OFF AND BRING THE PAIN IF YOU START INSULTING THEM, THEIR CO-WORKERS, GAMES or COMPANY-THEY-WORK-FOR. EVEN GOD-I MEAN GAME DEVELOPERS HAVE THEIR LIMITS. End Moral.

wow, that's incredibly f'ing bogus. Pretty draconian measures for a minor offense.
I guess he was right, looks like Bioware has sold their souls.

I do agree that a ban stretching over to your games that you've bought from breaking the rules in a forum does seem quite extreme. But it is nice to see some trolls getting some quantifiable punishment for their wrongdoings once in a while.

Just banned for having an opinion? Lol no. The banned always seem to think it wasn't as bad as the place they broke the rules at. He was probably trolling quite a lot or flaming other users along with that "constructive opinion".

Well, I guess I know one online store that I'm not buying from. Honestly, bullshit like this is why I don't play more games on my PC.

Suspend this:

Fuck EA.

I'm sick and tired of their codswallop. They've been responsible for more than a couple lackluster games over the years (I don't refer to either Dragon Age, I enjoyed those thoroughly) and they treat their customers like shit. It's shenanigans if you ask me.

Ummm, isn't it simply having $60 trapped in suspended animation for 72 hours?

Once again DRM sticks it to the paying customers. Wonder how many pirated copies they've stopped so far with their online activation. Here's a hint, not very damn many. This was pretty much either a zero day release or pretty damn close to it. Bravo Bioware, I hope the extra office space and additional funding was worth reducing yourself to nothing more than EAs *****.

72 hours is a slap on the wrist.

I agree, however, it's pretty outrageous to disable his ability to play the game.

If one didn't buy it from the EA store, but from Steam or even retail . . could the same scenario occur? You still have to authorize the game online, don't you? (I don't know, as I'm not touching DA2 until it's ridiculously cheap, like 1-2 years from now. If I buy it at all).

This is why I buy my games on disks. And why I don't game on PC, but that's another topic entirely.

Although, for the record, it's actually kinda nice to see a forum troll getting *****-slapped in a serious way. Maybe people will actually start being - gasp - polite to one another on forums? One can only hope.

That whole "oh, he paid for it, that's not right" thing - it doesn't matter at all. He handed a company some money. So what? Companies rip people off all the time. He also broke a company policy that he agreed to. They have every right to take his stuff away as a penalty.

This doesn't surprise me or offend me. I will continue to buy from EA because they make a quality product, because I enjoy their products, and because I am smart enough to behave myself (or not frequent) company forums where I might piss them off.

Edit: Ah yes! I almost forgot - he's only suspended for 72 hours. So he hasn't been denied his game, just instant access to it. That's barely a "time out".

It does seem like they didn't mean to stop him installing a game. It's only because he was banned in between purchasing the game and installing it that it turned out that way. It's still not cool and needs to be changed so this can't happen.

Man, Bioware are not popular right now. I need to go change my March Mayhem predictions. I have them winning it, lol. I assumed Dragon Age 2 would be good.

Wow, this combined with the news that they snuck in SecuRom on the disk and the below average metacritic score makes me glad I decided to save my money for shogun 2

I'm not sure. He said he bought it off the EA store and everything but was he actually able to download the game if his account was suspended and was he able to keep his game's code?

Mental note: activate your game before you troll.

Oh wait, I use a console, and I don't use EA/Bioware forums.

Oh well, sucks for you dude, 60 hours left or so.

EDIT: Aww boy, the guy below me is gunna get hell. He's right of course, but he's still gunna get hell.

The EA and Bioware forums aren't public etc, therefore if you join them, you agree to abide by their rules and accept their punishments. If he did something against the rules, he should be punished acordingly.

It's like these forums, and as with any forum, if you don't like it, you leave.
