I don't understand what drives someone to murder.

Also I don't understand religion. I literally cannot think about how you could have such belief, my mind can't grasp the concept of it, it's entirely alien to me. I think even if I tried I couldn't be religious, it's just not possible. My mind just won't allow it. Doesn't make me unable to be friends with people who have a faith but it IS a void between us that can never be explained.

I don't understand people that commit crime. I can't wrap my head around how somebody can be so immature that they don't develop a sense of responsibility or empathy for other people by the time they reach adulthood. Spur of the moment reactions are just down to willpower, or lack thereof, but commiting a planned and organised crime with a clear thought process behind that exists for nothing other than personal gain is an action I will never understand.

I say, regretfully, that I have been able to experience a small taste of what it is like.

Imagine something that you use a lot, but give no thought to.

Now, imagine that you view people the same way.

It's possible for normal people to impair their own empathy, you don't have to be born a sociopath to have it. If you get into the habit of wallowing in negativity, it's only natural that you will soon begin to stop properly relating to others as fellow human beings.

On topic however, for me, it's people who don't even try to proofread their own work. I'm no saint when it comes to grammar, and I'm sure I've let a few their and there's slip the net, but nothing will make me completely ignore everything you have to say faster than blatantly bad grammar and spelling. I'm sorry, but if you're too damn lazy to take the extra seconds it takes to type in proper english, then nothing you are saying is important enough for me to read it.

And on that note, the people who have bad grammar then try to use the excuse "it's the internet so I don't care," or variants thereof, are the worst of the bunch.

Because it is that real life person decision to be fat or muscular while the frictional character is not suppose to be fat or muscular in the first place. Yes it's the fanart artist who alter that character to be that way so it like being force to be fat or muscular (yes I know the character are not real but still).

What is music, if not a pleasant arrangement of sounds? Even if you don't like the lyrics to rap music, there are some excellent beats.

Then again, saying "I don't like rap lyrics" makes as much sense as saying you don't like books; like any other kind of music they can talk about whatever they want. I used to hate the stuff too, but then I was one of those "nobody understands me!" teenagers who identified with grunge and looked down on anyone who enjoyed different stuff ;-)

Also, many Christians are un-educated, and nearly half didn't even read the Bible; so I guess it's understandable that you feel offended by some of their remarks. Statements such as "You'll go to Hell if you don't believe in God", are particularly aggravating - they even bother me, even though I'm a theist. Strangely though, the Bible prohibits such acts; just another fact that proves most Christians are diluted ,and have no little idea of their faith(No offence intended).

I may not agree with it and I may find it heinous, but I can at least understand people's logic or at least what brought them there in the first place. im the opposite. i don't understand the concept of sympathy. i've never really felt much of anything for people except my sister and father. admittedly, i don't steal, murder, or rape, but that's more because of my desire to stay out of prison, not because i would feel bad about them. i choose not to do certain things because i know i would, pardon the childish expression, get in trouble. i also don't like blood or have any frequent violent urges.
i can't imagine having to live my life thinking "ok, how is this going to make me feel?" before i do anything.

I have a lot of sympathy and empathy, BUT I'm training to be a commando in the British Special Forces and to be honest? I'm fine with killing. The idea of doing it doesn't bother me at all. I mean obviously going out, finding some innocent person and killing them, sick. Taking any enjoyment from killing? Sick. But I don't have any problem with fighting, and killing people who mean me and those around me harm. I don't think I would regret it at all. I wouldn't enjoy it, and I'd prefer if those people could walk away peacefully, but I'm fine with killing. The vast majority of people I've talked to have said they would have trouble doing it, or they wouldn't be able to live with themselves or some such, and I just don't feel that.

The thing that really gets me is how people can be cruel and deliberately harm or kill innocent animals. The recent news story about the woman who filmed herself feeding a kitten to a snake then posting it to youtube made me feel actually sick. Hearing that she'd made another video where she tied a kitten to a broom handle and held it underwater til it drowned made me question my faith in humanity.

People who cry and moan about the death of one fuzzy-wuzzy little animal, yet wont bat an eyelash to the suffering of their fellow species members.

People who leap to conclusions based on a couple of sentences, and cannot understand anyone's viewpoints besides their own.

Had you read my post, you'd see that it's not about the animal, as that was an example, but that a person can be so detached and remorseless that they can inflict that much suffering upon an innocent living thing.

My pet cause is infant circumcision. I just can't and don't want to be open-minded about people who mutilate children, no matter what insane excuse they give. Anyone who does it is a monster and should be put to death.

While put to death is a bit extreme, I too have issues with people who make life-long, irreversible decisions for someone who isn't old enough to make them for themselves.

The console wars and the PC master race. I don't understand how someone can stand there and spout nonsense about how their preferred gaming platform is, at least to them, unrivaled perfection. If any of the gaming platforms were perfect they wouldn't have any problems now would they? But they do, they ALL do. The PS3's online is crap, the Wii's graphics are worse than DS's, and the 360 has a worse failure record than me at the stag party. And the PC? Its cumbersome, unfriendly (user wise), and mods while an excellent way to prolong the shelf life of any PC game can be a pain in the ass to get to work if you're not tech savvy. Please though, understand that I'm not trying to rail on any of these platforms and that those reasons were just off the top of my head. I love my PS3 and 360 and my laptop, but it boggles me how anyone can honestly believe that one is better than the others when they all have flaws.

Every time the subject of religion comes up you get atheists who hop on with their "GOD DOESN'T EXIST" trolling. It's old people, really old. Most of the intolerant, bigoted, and hate filled comments involving the subject of religion on the internet come from atheists. Then they have the nerve to whine when they get the same treatment in return.

There is nothing wrong with atheism being called a religion. Too many have spent too much time trying to demonize the word "religion." I don't understand why they do that though. It just doesn't make sense to me.

It's okay to have faith in something. It doesn't matter if you can physically prove it exists or not. It's perfectly okay to have faith in science, technology, God, Buddha, Ala, Talos, Ponies, the Triforce, Thrall, Spider Man, C-130 cargo planes, a rock, or anything else.

I don't understand why more can't grasp this. It's okay to have faith. It's not okay to belittle people who have faith in things you do not.

The reason atheists oppose atheism being called a religion is that it implies atheims requires faith, to make the stance easier to attack from a "you don't have proof either" standpoint. But it doesn't. At all.
An atheist may have faith, but there is no inherent quality to atheism that requires faith.
You don't have to believe in science, or human capability or anything at all to be an atheist. All you have to do is not believe that gods exist.
Make sure that you notice what i said was not believe gods exist. I did not say "Belive gods don't exist".
Atheism is in the broadest, most basic sense, a lack of belief in gods.

Well, I'm not an atheist, but I'd say because most people who try to claim atheism as a religion (incorrectly, I believe) are attempting to use such a claim to discredit atheism. "Oh, we're suckers for believing in God? Well being an atheist takes just as much faith, so it's a religion too!"

Going by the things you've quoted, should we assume that religious people don't have faith in science, technology, ingenuity and human creativity? If so, remind me to call me friend and get my AC:Brotherhood back because if she doesn't have faith in her xbox she can't borrow my games anymore! To have a religion is to have a set of spiritual principles and guidelines. There are no over-arching principles that all atheists adhere to; as such, if atheism were a religion it'd be a different religion for every single atheist. Playing the "atheism is a religion" card only works if there is a standardised belief system that all atheists share. If not (and AFAIK there isn't) it's simply a lack of faith.
