Gone back, or gone about seven miles too far and stop at the Blackblood City? There's a difference between "a prankster" and "some kind of zombie robot" (okay, Goofy was supposed to be a zombie robot, but still). That's the problem i see with that kind of thing.

Also, the gritty reboot of Batman was for the best and you know it ;)
No i don't, because i haven't seen it. Sue me.

No, no it wasn't.

It worked. There's a difference.
Fair enough. Still, in my opinion, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are miles ahead of any Batman movie to date.

Anyway.

Wait, wait wait... First you get everyone's attention by doing something different and then change the one thing everyone liked about it after reaching the peak of everyone's interest?

This should be labelled under false advertising.

Egh, too bad. The steampunk Mean Mickey was something I actually was a bit curious about.

What.

Hmmm, I can sort of see where you're coming from but the original article in Game Informer (November I think) sounded really appealing. The concept art was a little creepy, but I loved the steampunk aesthetic and Mickey's new "anti-hero" role. It was a perfect chance to flip the label on its head and blow everyone away, and they've clearly missed it.

What.
He was threatened by a big bad biker to abandon a great concept.
What a wuss.

If even a biker was against engrimdarkening Mickey Mouse, then it probably is, in fact, not too good of an idea.

[HEADING=2]Hey fellow nerds! I understand how appealing it always seems to make gritty reboots of stuff, but please... don't. It always turns out to be the bad idea.[/HEADING]
That's the thing though. It wouldn't have been a reboot. The original Mickey, WAY back when he was first invented, was not the goody-two shoes mouse that everyone is familiar with. He was a prankster and had a bit of a dark side, and this game would have gone back to those roots.

And they're still doing that, he just no longer turns into a giant snarling rat, which i don't think he ever did.

From the gameplay I've seen and from this article, the developers seem to be going back on the uniqueness of "Mean Mickey."

It's possible that the game will still be impressive, but everything I've seen so far seems to be watching the original, wonderful concept get taken away.

I'm guessing your test audience isn't really a gaming crowd. More like who wish was your target demographic, BUT THEY AREN'T. Wii Fit is making a lot of money yep, I got it. Your never going to get that demographic making a water-down product involving Micky Mouse. It has to have something cool to it and let's face it Micky Mouse isn't. Your trying to fix this, that's the point. Or do you just want another product tested failure?

Erm... aren't you all over-reacting a bit? The only thing that's been altered is that Mickey's image won't change depending on the choices you make, so, unless you really enjoyed the idea of playing as a scrawny anthropomorphic rat, what is so bad about this decision?

It was a unique idea, sure, but I'm not against them scrapping it. Mickey is Mickey. He's been this way for the better part of a century and he shouldn't change now.

Cue me being buried in a wave of "YOU SUCK" and "LOL KIDDIE" in 3, 2, 1.
I don't think any of us wanted a GRITTY Mickey, that would just be silly. We just wanted an interesting/awesome Mickey. Take Kingdom Hearts Mickey, for example. The dude's fucking Yoda in those games.

Considering this is the same game that was shown at E3. And 95% of the critics whom played that were little short of impressed makes me think that it'll still be a good game anyways.

I still want it because I thought it looked brilliant at E3

Hm... If you ask me, that evil Mickey didn't seem like Mickey anyway. And if it doesn't feel like Mickey, then it's not really a dark Mickey Mouse game, it's just a game.

That's disappointing. I suppose the game could still be okay without a "Mean Mickey". I guess we'll have to see about that one.
