Uh, there is such thing as normal. I wouldn't argue that all things normative are meaningful or important, but such a thing as normal does exist. It just doesn't mean what most people think, so long as you don't believe there's a way human beings are supposed to be.Rev Erebus said:no such thing as normal only acceptable

Of course there's a normative way to act, given certain demographics. Normal works just fine if you account for cultural relativism.Rev Erebus said:that's what i mean there isn't a normal way to be or act just acceptable whats normal to one person is completely off the wall for someone elseThrobbingEgo said:Uh, there is such thing as normal. I was unaware that OCD made me so outlandishly Bizarre.headshotcatcher said:I mean NO offense at ALL to ANYONE who might or might not read this topic. Nor am I trying to brag or whatever.
Being a regular on here for a while I've noticed there are a lot of people who have disorders and manias and OCDs and whatnot. For example when I was browsing a 'What's your disorder' topic a while ago there were like 20 pages and there were no posts that had like a minor thing.
Is it really that 'bad' around here?
Are 'normal' people in the minority over here?
Again: no offense to ANYONE
EDIT:
As you should have been able to read: with normal I mean not having disorders and such..
Look! There are sixteen pennies on your desk. Four is the square root of sixteen. Something is going to go horribly wrong!VitalSigns said:I was unaware that OCD made me so outlandishly Bizarre.
Well the example you gave is nothing close to what my OCD is about. I alphabetize stuff and just have to keep my house clean, i Almost look at it as a perk, as I don't let it get to me to badly. It stops me from procrastinating on a lot of things and helps me write better music . (OCD, people tend to think weird things can sketch us out and for some people it is like that, but for me its more or less trying to make sure everything I do is perfect. Surprisingly enough I could care less about maxing out achievements.)ThrobbingEgo said:Look! There are sixteen pennies on your desk. Four is the square root of sixteen. I don't mean to make light of your condition, or hurt your your feelings, but you have to admit that it's a pretty bizarre.
Cool. I think I need that. As a side note, I know a few people with the "random things sketch me out" flavor of OCD. Apparently there's a teacher at my old school who arranges things on his desk just to bug them.VitalSigns said:\Well the example you gave is nothing close to what my OCD is about. Normal people use punctuation.Rev Erebus said:well how about me i am someone who is big in the underground black metal scene my appearance always gets reactions from people when i walk around town i am being called every name under the sun from freak to fag i live with my g/f pay all my bills on time do everything a "normal" person is suppose to do but because of my music taste and appearance to everyone i am abnormal yet in my eyes i see these people as sub-human people because of the way they see people once i had a guy who is constantly being arrested by police for breaking into houses/fighting/drug dealing/stealing cars/has several children with different women call me a complete freak it just makes me laugh when people use the word normal
Basically this. As for myself, I don't have any noticeable disorders or conditions as far as I know of, so I suppose I'm pretty "normal" as per your definition. Though I do sometimes feel like my mind is slipping at times, so I'm not quite sure...SultanP said:I doubt there are more "normal" people anywhere else, I just think that people usually try to hide their quirks, and as such appear more normal. But everyone has something about them that's a bit off.
You're saying that most people in your scene don't dress somewhat alike? I mean, you identify yourself as being a part of a scene. That means you're conforming to their social norms, not general society's.Rev Erebus said:no there isn't actually of course there are a few people who think somethings should be done a certain way but when isn't there people like that
Normalcy is a joke. Its an imaginary belief made up by facists to show how perfect their super soldier program has progressed. Nah, I'm kidding.headshotcatcher said:I mean NO offense at ALL to ANYONE who might or might not read this topic. Nor am I trying to brag or whatever.

Or when you posted a topic about disorders a hypocondriac could have seen the thread and decided that they have problems, alot of kids at the school I graduated from said they had OCD because they ate their food diffrently, alot of people think they have problems, but posting that you have a problem makes you look interestingheadshotcatcher said:I mean NO offense at ALL to ANYONE who might or might not read this topic.
