Settlers of Catan would be a good suggestion as wellCOMaestro said:Go play some simple entry level games like Ticket To Ride, Carcassone, King of Tokyo, Pandemic, Tsuro, or try a deck-building game like Dominion or Trains, or even just a party style game like Coup, The Resistance, or Werewolf. Go from there to more advanced titles like Dead of Winter, Ghost Stories, Archipelago, etc. All of which are definitely better than Monopoly, and arguably Chess.
I fucking love Ticket To Ride... Who knew building railroads could be so much fun?COMaestro said:Go play some simple entry level games like Ticket To Ride, Carcassone, King of Tokyo, Pandemic, Tsuro, or try a deck-building game like Dominion or Trains, or even just a party style game like Coup, The Resistance, or Werewolf. True, that would be a good suggestion in this case. I've gotten tired of Catan after just a few plays, so I decided to avoid it, but there are plenty of people who do like it and it was the gateway to new board games for many people.TechTim said:Settlers of Catan would be a good suggestion as wellCOMaestro said:Go play some simple entry level games like Ticket To Ride, Carcassone, King of Tokyo, Pandemic, Tsuro, or try a deck-building game like Dominion or Trains, or even just a party style game like Coup, The Resistance, or Werewolf. It's a game you play on a board, with pieces that you move around said board. What else would it be? Also, what were you saying about Battleship and Connect 4? It feels like your sentence cuts off half way though.Scarim Coral said:I sorry but Chess is class as a board game??? Even as a two players only game, I still find 2 players games like Battleship and Connect 4 class as an board game. Well ok on Wiki, it IS class as a board game afterall...
Not only that, it's just not a good game. The optimal strategy/strategies are easily solvable and the rest of the game relies on pure dumb luck of the dice. Not to mention everything after most or all of the properties have been purchased (the end game if you will) is a game of keep rolling until everyone but the winner runs out of money. The amount of actual interesting decision making that goes on in the game is only marginally above that of snakes and ladders.Aetrion said:How is Monopoly even a contender? It was developed specifically to not be fun and teach people about how real estate ownership lets individuals snowball to total domination rather than actually requiring hard work or intelligence.
At least Risk wasn't on there. Monopoly may ruin friendships, but Risk can rip families apart!FPLOON said:Barry? What's Game Grumps doing in Oregon?
Also, from personal experience, Monopoly can kill friendships... while Chess just bores friendships to death... So, I declare that Connect 4 is the true king of games...I fucking love Ticket To Ride...
