Isn't Generals the one that absofuckinlutely sucked anyway? The one with shittier AI than any previous C&C game and indeed possibly any previous RTT ever?

Y'know, the one no one would've bought anyway?
Actually, it was the best of the series.
That is clearly a matter of opinion. While none of the games were bad games, I personally found Generals severely less enjoyable than the more science fiction oriented C&C games. It played about the same but was far less interesting as far as the campaign was concerned, IMO. But it definitely didn't suck, as some people like to think.

Edit: I never actually commented on the article, which is what I was originally posting for, what a dumbass I am.

They can have it. Generals was far from my favorite in the series. I'll probably be more annoyed when they destroy the rest of the franchises that I actually like. But, the way I see it, the more stupid things EA does, the aster they go down and all those great companies can be picked up by other companies who are more in alignment with gamers. Not that lots and lots of people don't play online games, but there are still millions of people like myself who enjoy games with SP campaigns. I'll just give my money to companies that cater to me.

This is what made C&C good.

Am I the only one that would react as if I was on direct webcam link to the cutscenes and talk back to the characters?
"Why of course Kane, Thanks for the promotion!"
I never got interested in Generals, but they say they are going to do the same to the Red Alert and Tiberium series?

EDIT: Also, it's supposed to be F2P and focused on e-sports? I sure hope they understand that you can't do a F2P with Pay-to-win and hope for any chance at e-sport recognition. Oh who am I kidding, it's EA, they have purged the last of their common sense years ago...
Yeah, I understand the logic in focusing solely on multiplayer if you want to turn the game into an e-sport. They're hoping on being the next Starcraft 2, which makes sense. However to do that it needs pixel perfect balance. Unfortunately the F2P model thrives off unbalance because the incentive to pay is to get an unfair advantage over your opponent you wouldn't normally have.

It's one or the other Bioware, unless you go 100% cosmetic microtransactions it just won't work.

Thankfully, I wasn't fond of the Generals branch of the franchise anyways, so hopefully it fails and they don't follow suit with anything else.

Wouldn't be so bad if they just admit they wanted to change things. Admit to your attempt to change things, don't make up crummy excuses, that just makes people madder.

Damn it one more of my favorite franchises dumped on from a great height by EA. CCG2 is now occupying a slightly lower position on my to-do list than opening the mystery soup tin in my cupboard whos label has fallen off and which was there when i moved in...

The real problem is that they're trying to turn C&C into an e-Sports rts when most people have always viewed Command and Conquer as an rts game with interesting units and a great story, but with horrible balance and a lack of a competitive edge.

Don't screw with the system Bioware. Kane will get his revenge.

trust me, there's a reason it flew under your radar XDD twas not impressive by any means.
You might surprised on how many people now PRAISE the game. It was a different story back when it was released but I see a lot of C&C praising the bejeebus out of it.

As for anyone saying "Westwood could do better". Really? You guys have no idea where they would have taken the game. There is also this where the longer the series goes on the less the fans like it.

Free to play + RTS on the other hand sounds like a dangerous combo.

They're insane. C&C is all about cheesy FMV cutscenes with Hollywood actors in a tight and well designed campaign.

Exactly, Captcha. Exactly.

The blight strikes again.

And realy, REALY, wish companies would stop cheapening, simplifying and dumbing down their games, only to pass it off with lines like "get back to the roots of what made Command & Conquer great."

And then fill the gap with pointless, tiny DLC packs, or multiplayer foppery like hats, custom uniforms, etc etc.

Its degeneration, impoverishement of these IPs. Inexcusable considering the constantly improving technology yet worryingly common. Even among IPs I still had hope for like:

Civilisation. Save the comments, I played from Alpha Centauri to Civ V and each iteration is simpler than the last with V reaching the point where I got bored too quickly to finish even one game.
Total War. Napoleon started this trend, and Shogun 2 continued with less diversity than all the other games safe for Shogun 1. The gameplay is arcady and the pisspoor campaign AI cheats on such a scale its like your playing a zombie horde mod. REALY worried about Rome 2.

tl;dr? You dont get one mwuhaha! Learn to read long things, makes you smart!

So EA decided the new C&C game should focus on MP and competetive play. So they give it to Bioware, (formerly) famous for amazing story but buggy clients and imbalanced gameplay.

I miss the old Bioware, the one that made awesome games :(
