im looking forward to Prototype 2 and i am pretty intrigued by The Darkness 2, as well. both games are looking very good.

i also might get Inversion.

definitely getting Prey 2. the game looks incredible.

most other games im looking forward to are pretty mainstream, but there are a lot of non-mainstream games that im eagerly waiting to see more of, before i can get excited about buying any of them. Hitman: Absolution, Dishonored, Metro: Last Light, etc. for example

I see mostly mainstream games in this topic.
*shrugs*

Anyhoo, my pick is "Sword of the Stars 2". Viva la Morrigi!

Let me think...ooo, I've got one. Dragonball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi comes out later this year. The gameplay and variety of different modes looks solid, especially Hero Mode. There is a certain appeal to the DBZ fighting games that I enjoy very much.

As far as I know, the game isn't "mainstream", as the OP put it. Here, take a look:

That is all gameplay, by the way.

finally, they finally made a dbz game with massive amount of customization's and ways for single player to be awesome. (they should've made this kind of a game years ago, but better late than never i suppose)

you sir, have just got me interested and will def. be buying this game new.

Half the games in this thread are pretty mainstream. I think people need to look up the definition of "mainstream". Prototype 2? Isn't that published by Activision? You can't really get more mainstream than that...

Anyways, I'm going to say Serious Sam: BFE, The Binding of Issac, and Renegade Ops. All of them look like a damn good time.
i would say it depends on how you define mainstream.

i would say serious sam:BFE is way more mainstream than prototype 2, based on hype/fanbase, not based on who published or made the game.

would you call minecraft non mainstream? i certainly wouldn't, not anymore at least.

Near all of them I can't name them off hand, I just picked up Sol Survivor in an indie stratagy bundle for 10 bucks and am enjoying the hell out of it.

Mainstream games suck now, because they use bloated budgets to crank out boring games with millions hiring celebrity voice overs, hit soundtrack designers. Major Motion capture time and all this stuff.

The end result? a 4 hour campaign that you can breeze through, unbalanced MP with no hope for patching, and up to 70+ bucks in DLC for 20 maps. for 10 bucks more than say all the BLOPS maps you can buy out entire publishers catalogs off steam.

These are dark and troubling times my friends where AAA studios make shitter games than some indie dev does in his basement.

They need to step up or we are going to end up with Gaming Hipsters! " Oh you wouldn't know what game I'm talking about it's too indie. I hate minecraft I liked it better when it was obscure"

Oh HELL yes Darkness 2. Just finished playing the first one, and it was so good that when it froze in chapter 5 due to the side quest bug (infinite loading screen, no way to fix), I only sulked for 2 days before I decided to fire it back up, playthrough the main story at super speed and see the ending proper. Glad I did, and now #2 is at the top of my "awaited" list.

Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland and Disgaea 4. Just cause I collect all that Japanese crap, even though I rarely get time to play through it. It's "rare", and therefore needs to get bought on the day it comes out or I simply never see it again.

Dark Souls. Though I quiver in fear at the thought. I'm good at games, but I admit, Demon's Souls bent me over a table and punished me like I've never been punished before. I think it's because I wasn't playing it right, and am just too stubborn to restart with a character build that DOESN'T die every few minutes.

Batman: Arkham City. People seem to have almost forgotten about this game in all the hoo-hah involving Skyrim, CoD and BF3. Yet it's probably going to be one of the best adventure game releases of the year.

All the HD remakes: Silent Hills HD, Metal Gear Solid HD, Zone of the Enders HD, and God of War Prequel Collection HD. Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Can't beat the classics. Also Silent Hill Downpour. Fuck yeah, lets see a return to the game style of old please!

Catherine. Got pushed back till March for us poor Australians. About this >---< close to saying "Fuck it" and borrowing it from my mate who imported it.

Child of Eden on PS3. Trippin.

That's probably about it for this year. Tons coming up next year, but that's a long way away. Thank god. I'll be broke as it is.

I'm seeing a lot of mainstream titles in this thread.

What I'm looking forward to more than anything (including Dark Souls, Skyrim, and everything else) else this year is Trine 2. The original was the best thing I've played so far this year (I was late to the Trine party) and possibly the most fun I've had playing multiplayer since the N64.

Dunno if you would call 'em mainstream or not, but Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is definitely something I'm looking forward to.

Also, Valkyria Chronicles 3, but there's still a ways to go for the GLF before SEGA (or anyone else) will get around to releasing it outside of Japan I fear.

The Winter Voices Episodes. I played the Prologue and enjoyed it so I am going to get the other four episodes. There is a fifth episode coming out for it this month I believe, so i'm looking forward to that aswell.

Also, i'm pretty hyped for Trine 2, I had alot of fun with the first one and the second one looks even better.

A samurai-game called "Kenshi", developed by a small indie studio, cant remember the name.

The gameplay Ive seen is still REALLY early alpha, but I think it has a lot of potential.
