This - caving's been my favorite part of the game all along. If cave generation is made somehow more expansive (and possibly more rewarding in some consistent fashion), that'd be OK by me.The Rogue Wolf said:Bigger that what can be found now? Because seriously, I have found some HUGE underground caves and shafts in Minecraft so far.
Wow, that's an amazing seed you found there. Plenty of caves, squids and multicolored sheep, among other thingssamsonguy920 said:I approve of this, but this is going to change seeds big time. What was made before with such as 12345 won't be the same after 1.7. If you like making maps from shared seeds, make them now and save them.

I wonder if this Ravine thing is just one tiny example of that. I hope so. I can't wait to run into an NPC village in-game.
They aren't too common, but ya I have found a few myself. I need to build a little outpost down there so I can explore those better. The Rogue Wolf said:Bigger that what can be found now? Because seriously, I have found some HUGE underground caves and shafts in Minecraft so far.
Just recently though, I did find this:
The seed is: 1564488598 Spawn: -40, 64, -32 which puts you in front of a big hill. The cave is around to the right. The sucker is deep in there but doesn't connect to underground. Lots of potential there, though.
It's honestly been complete for the past 5 months. The core of the game is done, everything else he has added after that has been just extra neat stuff that you get bored of.MelasZepheos said:I will admit I'm intrigued by the concept of Minecraft, and most of what I hear is positive, but I really don't want to play it until it's finished. The most predominant thing I hear from everyone is 'it's still in Beta.' I don't want to play it until it's finished. I'm fine with adding more updates to it after that point, but I want for him to at some point announce 'this is the finished base product. The 'vanilla' Minecraft.'
From the sound of the article, it seemed that was what he is doing. Both may be fairly pointless in their own right, but at least Terraria has much much much more variety.Tdc2182 said:I like where he is going with it.
As much as I hate to say it, he needs to take a leaf from Terraria and make the game more adventure oriented like this.
We're likely getting quests and NPCs, and we're definetly getting Pistons.viranimus said:/facepalm.
Furniture, Pistons, Recipes, Mirrors, Structural defensive weapons, Writable books, NPCs, quests...
NOOOO we need a bigger holes in the ground and a SkyRealm. (Skyrim, anyone? 11.11.11? Anyone? Ok)
I built my first base into a thing like that. It had a natural little opening on the side/bottom that let me see all the monsters. If I had more arrows then, I would had taken potshots at them.samsonguy920 said:I approve of this, but this is going to change seeds big time. I hope pigman towns show up in this version. I like playing with mobs on too much to really get much out of the SMP servers I have seen. Will be nice to feel a little less alone when I am in my world craftmining and minecrafting.
Imagine finding a preexisting working portal in an underground ravine, one that lets ghasts and zombie pigmen through more frequently than regular ones(I haven't seen it but Notch does allude to the possibility that nether mobs leak through).
That would be an adventure.
I'm glad to see I'm not alone in wanting this. I build enormous cities and fortresses which are cool but the novelty wears off when I remember that I have nothing to protect but my own immortal respawning skin. Let me go out and rescue some NPCs from dungeons or wherever and put them behind my walls.spectrenihlus said:I personally just want to fill my empty city with people.
