NPC you couldn't bring yourself to kill or mourned the death of

Sometimes a game actually makes an NPC that you like so much that you can't bring yourself to kill them in a mission or are actually sad when they die in the game.

The vampire in the Dark Brotherhood missions in Oblivion was like one of the ONLY characters that consistently had something nice to say. I couldn't bring myself to do in one of the only people that didn't greet me cheerfully in one sentence and curse me for smelling of death in the next.

I also felt bad when the main character's servant died in Suikoden as part of the story plot.

The spanish dude in Resident Evil 4 was pretty cool. Also Half-Life 2 Episode 2 at the end... although you don't get to kill those guys.

In MGS4, at the beginning of the second act, you're outside a small village. The PMCs have captured a group of rebels and are executing them one at a time. For whatever reason, I can never just sneak past and leave the rebels to their fate, I always save them.

I had completely forgotten about her! I think I quit the game when she died. I liked Aeris too.

Glad I'm not the only one. After I read that letter she dropped, I was like "Awww crap I shouldn've done that."

I also mourn the death of every NPC that helps me, no matter how shitty their AI is and how annoying they are, I just don't want them to die. The amount of times I restarted my Halo: CE game because a marine died, or Half Life 2 because a resistance fighter died, are uncountable.

I generally kill anyone i can at least once. The only one I regret killing was Caius Cosades and only because I couldn't continue the main storyline with him... Oh yeah and Imoen from Bladur's Gate

I felt pretty bad about killing the brain damaged bodyguard from Assassin's Creed 2, yet at the same time, I guess I was freeing him.
