STOP buying their shit, day one then......

If ANYONE complains about Obsidunce's next game then it's entirely your own fault for buying it.

I'm sick to death of seeing people complain about their games, when it's been obvious for years that all they do is release crap now.... and it all comes as some big surprise??? :Oo WTF??

Yeah, the save thing you described was steam related. That particular bug isn't obsidian's fault. what IS Obsidian's fault is tat the space suit from Come Fly With Me, could cause save game corruption on the xbox 360. Not sure if they have fixed that problem yet or not though. Other than that, it's been really fun so far for me.

It's not Steam related, it's happening in non steam versions too. It's the way THEY have coded the saves to work in the engine.. It IS their fault.

The great thing is that some these were bugs in Fallout 3. Yet, they still haven't fixed them. In fact, the bugs seem to have gotten worse.
That's why I'm waiting until I hear that New Vegas is largely bug free. In other words, I'm never going to buy it.

I put up with enough of that sh*t in Fallout 3!

Putting out a game as buggy as New Vegas is just completely unacceptable for a big name developer. I decided to hold off on buying it, because I wanted to see if this was going to happen, and I'm glad I did. It's really a shame, because I'm 99% certain I'd love the game anyway, like that clumsy, socially awkward, overly exuberant cousin that you just can't help but like...but I'm not going to validate a release like this. Sooner or later, we that play games are going to have to start doing something more than complaining about a game while playing it (and no I don't mean piracy, just boycotts).

I'm going to wait for a game of the year edition that's (hopefully) patched up and then I'm going to buy it secondhand. Sorry Obsidian. No cookie for you. Get your shit together.

The only major bug, aside from the same physics glitches I've come to expect of Bethesda games, is that save bug. Pissed me off, I lost about half the progress I had made so far.

Congratulations on not knowing HOW your game works!

Fallout New Vegas uses steamworks as DRM, but also offers some neat bonuses to go with it. Easier chat than GFWL, not completely crappy, etc. etc.

In order to play the game, you make a steam account and give them the CD key. Then you let it update/decrypt the files and install.

Now your game is running, but. On. STEAM.
I meant bought from Steam....

Doesn't matter though, it's still not a steam issue.

I wish people would trying to fudge matters when it comes to who is to blame for a bad game.

If they make it then the buck stops there!... it's either a bad coding job (their fault), or an exageration of the time THEY thought they could do it in and the publisher want it on the agreed date (their fault again)....

Once bitten, twice shy.... but after the fourth surely it becomes expected?

Hum. I played the game today for ten hours straigt and the only bug I encountered was the fact that it would load up some older auto-save when I klicked "continue" in the main menu. But I still could load my manual saves. So am I just lucky or is that patch THAT good?

Well there have been minor things, like whole rooms in the casinos being virtualy empty and useless, some quests having dodgy dialoges and the mid-game being an incomprehensible mess of faction-picking-quests that noone ever bothers you to explain. But well, that's pretty common for open world games.

Honestly, I'm not sure about this. On the one hand, KOTOR 2 was Rushed, NWN 2 wasn't too bad, on the other, I'm about as close to an Alpha Protocol fanboy as there is. I think I've beaten the game 3 or 4 times. I still enjoy it. Yeah, all those games have polish issues, but they were also the best kind of game, intricate RPGs.

I think Obsidian is a B-list developer trying to make A-list games. If they pumped out Shooters or Movie Tie-ins, then no one would ever say anything bad about them. Hell, we'd be impressed by the level of sophistication they bring to the table. I bet Obsidian could make the best damn Superman game ever (mostly cause of the lack of competition). Instead, they go after the biggest fish in gaming: Star Wars, Forgotten Realms, Fallout. If they'd leave the sacred cows alone, I don't think they'd have such a bad rep.

Well they're releasing patches for it so hopefully by the end of the month the majority of bugs will be fixed.

See, this is why I generally wait for a few patches before I buy a huge game like Fallout. Even if they had tested, there'd still have been lots of annoying bugs and such and waiting for patches just seems like a less painful way to game.

Personally, that's what i've experienced so far. What I seem to notice is that the people who seem to be the most angry, seem to be the people who have said that they haven't played it. Or m ore accurately, it seems that those who said tat they've picked it up seem to have been more kind in this thread. Now I'm sure that this isn't the case for everyone, as Shamus has clearly played it, but so far that seems to be a theme. I'm not defending the bugs, i'm just saying that for me the total experience has been good so far.

I knew the games was going to be bugged to hell, glad I didnt waste my time or money on this pile of monkey shit. Game bugs are fine but the ones I've heard of from Obsidian surely top even Bethestas bugs.

Pessimism pays people, learn to love it.

After the train wreck of KotOR 2. I already know better than to buy anything made by Obsidian. Fallout 3 was a good game but full of bugs and glitches itself. I could just imagine how much worse Obsidian would do with that engine.

I will wait for a game of the year edition. I might buy it if I get a good deal with extra content and whatnot. I've been ripped off by them before though, I am extremely wary.

I think you have the right call, I'll wait till the fixed verison with (Emperor willing) all the DLC on the game for free as opposed to having to pay for it.
