Ocarina of Time's Water Temple Won't Suck in 3DS Remake

Sigh, i remember my first time through the Water Temple. I didn't know about the blue suit, so i tried to beat it while constantly on the verge of drowning. I had to optimize my movements to ensure i had enough air to get around. Used the fairy teleport spell a lot too since i often didn't have enough air to return to the surface after getting to the bottom.

I don't remember how far i got before i gave up and stopped playing. I also don't remember how i discovered the blue suit, might have gotten a tip from a friend or found an early online faq. Was gamefaqs around back in 1998?

Either way, after finding the blue suit and not constantly drowning, i found the temple to be fairly easy. Of course, i had spent several hours drowning through it, so i knew just about every corner.

Stupid blue suit.

I'm not certain, but my understanding is it works the same way as those old 3D cards that changed picture/perspective depending on angle.

Know those old Digi-FX Cards? I believe something like that.

The best way I can describe the 3DS's Parallax Barrier if I recall is like playing virtual boy, but without having to wear the large head unit and no headaches.

You can even get to the Water Temple without the blue suit? Huh.

I loved the Water Temple. It was the FOREST Temple that gave me problems, due to the first key not actually being in the temple. First play through I walked right past it, and was stuck forever until I gave up, went out to do something else, and saw the chest out of the corner of my eye.

Ugh, i remember this. To add to the annoyingness i forgot to lift the heart piece you get apon defeating the boss and just teleported out, and had to make my way back in :|

Ah yes the water temple could be little frustrating but mostly due to the raising and lowering of the water level. Not only was the "stand infront of triforce and play the same goddamn music" mechanic a waaaaaaayyyyyyyy to overused(in the whole game) but it also took a lot of time to backtrack and find some small key you had forgotton.

Wait, is the Iron boots thing the only thing about the Water temple they'll correct? Cause that ain't enough.

Excellent. I get to play the game people won't shut up about and it's probably a better version. Now I must get my money ready for the 3DS.

Silly Calumon it's easy

Ironically the Water temple was actually easier in the Advanced version, so was the fire temple
Shadow was much harder

lol I remember not minding this temple that much because I'd usually just wear the iron boots everywhere, made me feel badass stomping around with iron boots and the goron sword. So they're replacing one of the most memorable things in ocarina of time ? Ah well I've never played a ds remake of any game, because why do that when I can just play the original which is 1000x better(if only because it's not on a portable) ?

I didn't. I thought the Water Temple was the same as any other temple.

I loved the water temple, the phrase fiendishly clever describes what I thought of it best. Although taking the iron boots on/off without having to go through the strat menu would be nice...

Good. That stupid level had me frustrated for a while. You needed to know the right order to put keys in doors, and there was that one annoying time you had to... either open a door or find a chest by lighting the torches.

Well, I'm not going to get the 3DS anyway... Nintendo with its goat-fragging DSi have lost a longtime customer in portable gaming devices.

EDIT: Frack, I'm going to replay Ocarina of Time again.

I am happy enough the Link now has a strap to hold is sword on. It's the only thing that bothered me about OoT... after MM at least. They could have left everything else the same and I'd be happy.

Actually I prolly won't even get a 3DS anytime soon so that doesn't even matter.

"I've lived with that for the last ten odd years"
Relax! It's not like you killed a man! Or even made a overall bad game! In fact, you made an awesome game that millions of people love. It just had a kinda shitty level in it.

More on topic: I'm not sure if I agree with remakes, but if a remake is being made, I do believe that it should be improved and updated to provide a better experience. That's a no-brainer in my mind. So this is good news, I suppose.

Why am I the only one who mentions that block that, if moved too soon, would render the temple impossible to complete, so you had to start again if you had no other save?

I totally love how this guy takes the piss out of the people who complained about the water temple. If it were me, I wouldn't change a thing about the gameplay, sure the Water Temple was a bigger pain the ass then a broadsword bum-fuck, but hey if it can still give veteran gamers a hard time, it means they did something right.

You are not alone, I think it was a great temple that actually require more puzzle solving thought than the others. It was less linear, so you actually had to plan what you were doing.

Don't change the game, don't touch the precious!
