I have no sympathy for this individual, because it wasn't a heat of the moment thing. He's behaves atrociously most of the time.

He represented a company that made a product designed for people and children with disabilities.
What if he treated those people with the same kind of attitude that he treated Dave with?
What if he said the same sort of things to people, children and parents of those children that he said to Dave?
What if Dave was a person that suffered from a disability like that? That he needed that controller in order to game?

Would you defend that sort of person?

The type that thinks of himself as a "bigshot" and is into the most superficial aspects of our consumerist society (that a person is defined by their wealth) and has had his views reinforced over the years by being the head of his own company, having hanged out with "big" names and judging by his comments, having an expensive house and still playing the rich mans property market game , etc...

Course i could just be projecting past biases onto this guy, but the way he speaks and his reasoning reminds me of far too many people i have the displeasure of knowing.

Shame about the teacher who actually made the product btw, he is being represented by this guy.

A: Running he mouth, like he's a tough guy.

B: When proven that he was actually a little weakling, he ran his mouth off to the site owner and the person who runs PAX

C: Realizing what a moron on he was being, he backed out. When he should have done that in the first place.

This guy was an asshole. He deserves to be fired. But this is too far. We have become the bullies. Christ people can be dicks, but this is far worse than what he did. People trying to ruin him should be ashamed. Ashamed. You are worse than him by a fair margin. What he did was heat of the moment assholery. What you are doing is sadistic and unneccessary. The inernet and nerds in general are bad at this, me included. We pounce on a single person and RUIN them totally out of proprortion. Its sick. Its wrong, and its fucking disgustingly hypocritical. No one can ruin his life, he did that all on his own. If he loses his job it will (hopefully) be because of the shit job he did addressing a customer's complaints.

Its called Customer Service, not Disservice.

And no, I never run my mouth at work. Its my workplace! I represent a company bigger then myself.

Meanwhile this only occurred because this guy thought he was the shit because a computer screen separated him from his customer.

I've had people end complaints with spitting at my feet, people come around my desk and scream in my face, I've been called every foul name created, and still took it, without becoming a snarky douche bag.

This whole thing is like a reversed version of "Its a wonderful life".

Up to this point, its pretty obvious that Paul Christoforo has been hopping through life without much care for anyone else around him.

Life has let him be as mean as he wanted to be, and ultimately to victimize weaker people around him. Its apparent in the way he presents himself privately and professionally. Everything the internet has discovered about Paul illustrates the man that he is...or isn't, as you might analyze.

Paul just got the biggest wake up call of his life. The rest of us got this message in our teens. Behaving in fucked up ways and doing fucked up things ultimately bears fucked up consequences. Rather than learn this, accept it, and move on to a productive and healthy adulthood - Paul skipped the lesson. That didnt make the lesson any less true though.

So now, Paul is getting that lesson..but instead of learning it somewhat gently over the course of a decade of teenage mistakes, its all been saved up for this moment..to be delivered in one huge dose.

Is it the business of the internet to serve this dose? I don't know. But its happening.

Its a philosophical point - When do we have to answer for the evils that we do? We've all done something. Some of us have done lots. When is that bill due?

Paul's bill came due on Dec 16th 2011.

And that's the whole point of this. I prefer to put it a far more crass way and simply say that some people a dicks till somebody beats the stupid out of them. The people who are pitying this guy seem to neglect the fact that this is the first time a person complaining about the guy's behavior has resulted in any kind of outrage. I've read the records of two other people who've had run ins with Ocean Marketting just from this thread.

One is a slip, two is a coincidence, three is a pattern. And let's not forget, not everyone is willing to throw out their grievances in lengthy detail to the entirety of the internet. How many other people had issues with him that haven't spoke a word about it other than saying 'yeah, there was this total dick I had to deal with while I was trying to get my controller'? How many simply brushed it off and decided that waiting would be the best option? I don't know, I don't think anyone does. The more you read, the more that comes up, the more you find that this guy is one of those people who've gone through life without facing any opposition, without facing anything to make them back down...hell, without facing anything that makes them truly empathize with others.

You go through life and eventually you'll run into someone who won't back down, who won't roll over and let you be a jerk. The consequence of that in real life is a shove or a punch, and the realization that you are never the biggest fish in the pond. Paul, Paul has the entire feel of someone who's never faced that, from the bearing of his other online personas to the way he treats others, to the way he is willing to so easily bandy about names of others, even impersonate others...he has no sense of respect, no sense of empathy for the way he treats other people, he doesn't see them as being worthy of the simplest of respect.

Perhaps I'm being very analytical, perhaps I'm merely acting the part of an internet therapist, but tell me, what would people call someone who treats -everyone- else as merely pawns, things to be used for a goal? He drops the names of major members of the industry, belittles others he considers less powerful, when faced with opposition, dismisses it. When he is faced with an unassailable obstacle he uses lies and masquerades as someone else. He can't associate anything except in the context of how it affects him, how it impacts him.

With the exception of whatever is happening to his wife and child(if it's actually true, mind you), I'm glad this is happening. This wasn't a case of someone making a mistake and popping off. He has a consistent pattern of being a complete asswipe, criminally so in more than one case, and should be treated as such. Taking pity on him and chewing everyone else out is fucking ridiculous. Thank god most people understand this and reserve their sympathy for people that actually deserve it.
