Nuketown in Black Ops...

Oh look, it's a chopper!
*death* *death* *death *repeat*

SWA SWA SWA SWA SWA SWA SWA SWA SWA SWA SWA...

MW2 has some decent balance, although I've run the same map 5 times in a row on Team Tactical...
Reach usually doesn't run the same map more than twice in a row, but playing Snipers on PInnacle can rot in hell...

Ever notice how in multiplayer games there are certain maps that are played so often that you get sick of them? Sometimes it gets so bad that there are dedicated servers running said maps 24/7.

What's your favorite multiplayer titles that suffer from this? I'll start it off with two examples:

Team Fortress 2: 2Fort. God, I hate 2Fort. The battlements are plagued with Snipers, and the entrances to the intel room are narrow chokepoints, perfect for Engineers to turtle with their sentry guns. Because of this, the match frequently ends with a stalemate.

Halo Reach: Sword Base. It mystifies me why this one is so popular, as the map itself is boring as hell. It's just a three story complex made entirely of rectangles and bridges. It's frustrating watching it win the map vote time after time, particularly if there are more interesting maps to choose from like Powerhouse.
To be fair, I think it's popular because it's first alphabetically, and therefore first on the server list when playing. I've changed my server view to look for others quite a bit.

Mountain Pass in Killing Floor.

It is quite possibly the most tedious map in the history of zombie games, what with it taking upwards of 10 minutes for all the specimens to make their way to you from about round 5 onwards. It's so slow that I end up having to shave between rounds because it just takes so. fucking. long.
Aww, I like MP! Xd

For me it's Biotics Lab in Killing Floor. Too dark, too green and TOO narrow. It's almost as bad as Bedlam. >.>
What? O_O

Bedlam's funny because it's hectic!

Biotics Lab is just... A clusterfuck.

Hey, don't hate on 2Fort, it's the best map for trolling/dominating trash Snipers.
My favorite thing to do is to use the spy, disguised as a sniper, to take out all of the snipers in one hit.

Interesting how about half the maps on this list seems to be maps where you can actually defend (2fort, Nuketown) rather than being shoehorned into "attackattackattack" isn't it?

My hated map? MountainPass from Killing Floor (The map itself is good but you take more time waiting for the bloody zombies to show up than you do anything else, plus all the Traders are REALLY far apart)

Fuck that spawn camping, piece of shit map.
I agree with that one.

*Throws a grenade randomly across the map and kills you whole entire team*

But it does have its charms ;)

I'm getting tired of most of the Black Ops maps, except Nuketown.

It hardly gets played on servers that aren't 24/7 Nuketown. The problem with those servers is that everyone is insanely good at Nuketown on them since that's all they play.

There was that one map in Tribes 2 that was like two towers on opposite sides of a lake of lava or something. Don't remember what it was called, just that I hated it. That game had so many great maps, though.

I'll just break it down by games I play:

Halo 3: Standoff and Rat's Nest. They are just dull maps, especially in Team Slayer. Standoff, in particular, is just a stalemate till one team gets a Warthog breakout, then the other team is probably pinned till the end of the game.

Halo Reach: Sword Base. It has one completely dominating position, rendering 90% of the map pointless. You basically have to take elevator if the other team has it, because they certainly won't come to you. And if you attack, you are guaranteed to take casualties. Its just a huge mess.

Team Fortress 2: 2Fort. For reasons stated in this thread, its just a boring map. It'd be more fun if people actually tried to win it, but so many people are more than content to camp as Engineers and Snipers, and any push always fails do to a lack of attackers.

Modern Warfare: Creek. Ba gawd, Creek. Far too busy visually, and 90% of the fighting happens on 20% of the map.

World at War: Dome. MP40 paradise

Modern Warfare 2: Karachi. No particular reason, I just didn't like the map. Never did very well on it.

Black Ops: Hanoi. Its got the worst spawns in the game, and its got a sprawling and unintuitive layout. Just a boring map in general, with lots of frustration to boot.

Bad Company 2: Panama Canal and Attacama Desert. Way too big to be a conquest map, and full of snipers. Boring to play on, and the matches take forever.

Left 4 Dead: Blood Harvest. I dunno, its just a tedious map to play.

Left 4 Dead 2: Swamp Fever. Impossible to get a good attack in when playing as Infected. The first two maps are basically gimmes to the survivors if they have half a brain between them.

I don't find that 2Fort actually has the problems people complain about. Maybe I play on good servers, but the battlements aren't swarming with snipers and it's been about two years since I saw anyone who could tolerate building a sentry in the intel room (it is boring).

Dustbowl is a different story. Dustbowl is shameful, and it's played constantly. The first two stages are tolerable, but then we get to the third stage. Five minutes of running round a corner into gunfire over and over again, followed by fifteen minutes of running round a corner into gunfire over and over again. Dustbowl is sorely in need of alternate routes that are actually worthwhile.

I don't like -anything- in an online FPS when the connection that is considered acceptable on xbox live is always 200 - 500+ ping. I miss the CS:S days when an average of 50 ping was considered the norm, and anything higher means you're too far away from the server or have a slow internet plan.

OT: Nuketown on Black Ops. It's a camper's dream.

Halo Reach: Waterfront on firefight. Those snipers always seem to spawn when you're desperately jetpacking away from an Elite swordsman with a few notches of health left. BZZZZZZZZRT. Goodbye, perfection medal. Oh, and any map on Elite Slayer, since it's made up of all the weapons you ignored in campaign and never took the time to be any good with.

Black Ops: Firing Range. It's a fun map, but I'm getting awful tired of playing it two times in a row, ten times a day.

Bad Company 2: Panama Canal. There are three kinds of people on Panama: those that get tanks, those that stay put, and those that get shot up by campers and tanks. I'm also not crazy about Heavy Metal, since, let's face it, the entire match hinges on who captures the AA gun in the middle, and if your teammates refuse to help you get control of it because they'd rather run up the valley walls and snipe at distances they'll always miss from, it's game over. Oh, and Atacama on any mode, because I know I'm in store for a shitload of walking.
Heavy Metal is great fun! XD Your right about canal though, it turns to just bunching together and hoping for the best. There is NO skill involved, 'cept crazy sniper/twatty skill
