Oddly I read the title and thought, well I bet Daystar is going to be the fastest to respond to this post. Stupid me, Daystar MADE the post.

OT: I played a couple hours and really liked it. Not sure why I never played more... it was really fun. I'm definitely going to check out the HD release.

I'm ashamed to say (as with Psychonauts) that I didn't. I would've, but I was already focusing on making the jump to the PS3.

Depends on what my financial situation is at that moment, but yeah, I'd definitely like to correct my past mistake.

Bottom line: Okami was a great game, made by a great studio, who unjustly and regrettably fell to Capcom's greed. And I'll be getting it along with that PSN Psychonauts re-release.

Well I've never heard of this game, but judging from the trailer, it looks utterly uninteresting to me. Sorry to say Daystar. I also only play on PC, so there's that too.

But hey, at least I know what your avatar is now.

I never even heard of Okami until I met you Daystar.

And there's no way I'll be buying a PS3 for the privilege of playing it now. (Sorry)

Although since I am considering getting a PS3 in the long term (Uncharted looks more enticing by the day...) I might get it at some point.

If I'm frank, I'll probably not be getting this.I bought it around release for the PS2, and while I love the game dearly, I think it's aged perfectly well on its own. If it was cheap, I'd probably get it, but as it's Capcom we're talking about, it won't be. For the time being, my PS2 and Pkami disk are still functioning well enough. If one or t'other breaks between now and this thing's release I'll probably reconsider, as this game is one of the all time greats.

I played and loved this game when it got re-released on the Wii, even though I am lead to believe that this is the lesser version of the game, I still really loved it, it has some really beautiful moments, moments that when you first see them will actually make you go "wow".

I'm not saying its the perfect game, I think it does have its flaws, but buying this on day one is definately a no brainer for me, I'm looking forward to playing it with a proper controller.
I'm currently playing through it on the Wii and I'm kind of torn as to which would be better. I love the Wii for the painting controls, but the dodging and attacking on the Wii is... less than responsive. If anything I'll get the game on the Ps3 just to see how the controls compare. Either that or play it at someone else's house.

It's a really good game, but sadly has not cracked my top 5. My top 5 are pretty darn hard to crack though.

I'll be getting it for sure. I was never able to find it when it first came out, but it looks like something that I'd really like. So I'll pick it up.

I bought the game day one on the PS2. One of the best and funniest flippin' games I ever played. The final area and the ending sorta suck though.

And while I know an HD upgrade will most likely not add jack to this game, I'm still gonna buy it, day one.

Okami is literally the single most pointless game you can choose to give an HD remake. It's still beautiful on PS2. HD can do nothing to enhance it.
It's in the same realm as the original Shadow of the Colossus. Okami still looks brilliant, but it doesn't quite look right on big HD TVs.

Dammit, why can't these things be on the PC? >.>
I played the original, and loved it, until I got stuck and pissed off at some wall-creature on the demon island, and I never went back and beat it.
I know which wall you're talking about :D

He is pretty difficult.

I don't know why but whenever Daystar mentions Okami I begin to hate it even more. Dunno why.

Okami HD

I can't say I was surprised to see that, and guessed that you were, in fact, the thread creator, hah. Glad to see you didn't disappoint!

As for me, I played the Wii version for a short time and found it to be very enjoyable. The gameplay, the cultural references, the graphics style, all of it melded together to be a really fun Japanese game.

I don't own a PS3, but I have considered purchasing the Wii version, and likely will if I ever find a good sale or have some extra money to burn.

One of the things I love about the game, is that you don't need any prior knowledge of Shinto lore.

The game is very Japanese, there's no questioning that, but it does a terrific job of lowering the culture barrier so that anyone can play it and understand what's happening.

I have on PS2 and has it on the Wii, before I sold it due to being unplayable.
I will probably get it when it comes out as it is an amazing game that I really liked.

I played it on the Wii but stopped playing after about an hour and a half. While visually it looked nice, the gameplay seemed to consist of 'find keys to open doors' - albeit in an artistic fashion, but still, nothing I felt I hadn't played before. So I sold it. I know there are those who love it with a passion here, but it's not for everyone, as its generally poor sales might suggest. A remake in HD feels pretty meaningless. I didn't even bother with Shadow of Colossus in HD. If a game is good, then a game is good no matter what the resolution.

(Note, due to my educational background the historical Japanese mythological aspect of the game had little effect on impressing me so maybe if this was your first introduction to that then it might be very intriguing and appealing?)

I love Okami, still play it every now and then (yes I still have my ps2, sue me), so...

About the -only- thing that is really making me hesitate to buy this (awesome) game for ps3 as well really is the fact that I have to unlock my favourite incarnation all over again. I have to finish the game to play in wolf form :-/ (and then of course do a complete run with the wolf form getting all the goodies, feeding all animals and whatnot).
Thats a bit... discouraging. If only they would give you all forms from the start! *whine*

Im not sure if its possible to really see what is so great about the game in an hour and half. Im not saying you'd definately like it if you stuck with it, but stopping so early is like stopping ocarina of time before you even reach hyrule field.

Yeah, the game does start off kind of slow, but once the world is open to you, then it's when it gets a lot better.

As some of you may know, there's HD re-release Okami in the works, scheduled for a world wide release this autumn on Playsation 3.

This may be actually new to some of you, so here's a trailer:

[sub][sub]Just gimme a sec, got something in my eye here...[/sub][/sub]

*clears throat*

Now it's no secret how much I love this game, so it's a given that I'm picking this up and soon as it's available.

I'm more interested in what you guys think.

Have you played Okami before? If so, what did you think of the game? Will you be getting the HD release?

Some of you may not have played the game at all, in which case, what the fuck have you been doing are you interested in the game?
Not played it, not really that interested either. I was busy playing games like Baldurs gate (Clearly superior)
