Hi all, trying to figure out a couple of 90s edutainment games that've been bugging me for years...
Been trying to figure this one out for years, I'd almost convinced myself it was a dream but my parents remember about as much as I do. It's a game I played when I was little so it would've been an early to mid nineties PC game, I have a feeling it was a DOS game but it may have been windows 95 and my parents bought it in the UK. The game involved fairies and had a talking snail (I can hear his voice in my head but that's not much help), it was similar to Mixed Up Fairy Tales but I've looked into that and it's definitely not right.. The art style was kinda cartoony with soft colours. I have a feeling the aim was to get to a castle and that the snail guided you, read to you and gave you hints. I also think that it started with a book opening (similar to Mixed Up Fairy Tales but it's not that)It was a really cute game and while I doubt I'd manage to find it even if I knew its name I'd at the very least like to know so I can quit trying to figure it out.
There's also another edutainment type game from around then which was similar to the jumpstart games and I remember one level where you were in a lab with a green dragon or lizard who wore glasses and a lab coat and there were different sized beakers and you had to work out how many of the different objects would fit in the beaker or how many were in there, one of the things you counted was ladybugs. This game also had a second disc that was about writing and it gave prompts and such and there was a lady dressed in a bee costume, when you clicked on the phone (that would've let you connect to the internet but I wasn't allowed on there) she would hop on a surfboard and sing part of that "Everybody's Gone Surfin'" song, she was FMV I think and it looked like it was in a treehouse or attic. I think both games were aimed at kids who were still in primary/elementary school.
