Your definition of old school is similar to people who define 'retro' as games like Super Mario 64 and GTA3.Captain Pancake said:Dude, it's just my opinion, they're relatively old games that I still enjoy. I won't reiterate myself, so just look back to my previous posts in case my statement wasn't clear enough.Assassin Xaero said:You seriously consider 5 years ago old school? Wow. When I think of old school I think asteroids, missile defend, donkey kong, and all those other old arcade came that were around 20 years ago.Captain Pancake said:How attention seeking are you that you get off on pointing out the small flaws in my original statement?Nwabudike Morgan said:How young are you that a game that came out in 2005 and was supported with expansions up to 2008 is "old school".Captain Pancake said:Civ 4

Morrowind.
Morrowind is chief amongst them because seriously, I fucking love that game.
And yes, the gratuitous swearing was necessary to elucidate my point.
Check the OP, it says there's no clear definition of "old school" for the point of this thread. I'm talking about games that I have bought that weren't immediately released. I'm so terribly sorry that I don't conform to your own, perfect image in this thread, oh great and powerful Nwabudike Morgan.
Not that there's anything wrong with that, right? *points to OP*Editos said:Your definition of old school is similar to people who define 'retro' as games like Super Mario 64 and GTA3.Captain Pancake said:Dude, it's just my opinion, they're relatively old games that I still enjoy. I agree and am glad you like the threadnumber9dream said:Hehe, I guess it doesn't really feel old school thenIrirshTerrorist said:It counts if it counts to you... if you know what I mean.number9dream said:Hm... Does Starcraft count as an old school game since it's still being played by hundreds of thousands? If it does, then well, that's my favorite game of all time so that.
P.S: liked you long informative post, made for good reading and decent increase in my old school gaming knowledge.Maybe once SC2 comes out! Fun thread btw, trips down memory lane are never wrong - at least not when it's down Gaming Avenue.
I tried MMORPG when World of Warcraft came out, for about fifty days I played it and really enjoyed it. After that I got steadily more bored of it until I stopped playing it completely.gmaverick019 said:haha either way, kudos and cookies to us in our sanity =]

I haven't been completely put off MMORPG's but I will be more hesitant before investing in one again.
I think the thing is, as you said "... a shit ton of hype build up..."... Actually I'm going to set up a thread about the advantages and disadvantages of hype build up... I'll send you a link when its up and going.gmaverick019 said:exactly what im thinkin will happen, this one has a shit ton of hype built up around it tho with its full voice over and i love bioware and i love star wars so hopefully it'll be pretty good (i dont have high standards so im sure ill enjoy it for what it is)IrirshTerrorist said:I tried MMORPG when World of Warcraft came out, for about fifty days I played it and really enjoyed it.
