Looking back at Bioshock and Rapture, I thought why are all the plasmids that Gatherers Garden sold weapons. I mean, at one point Rapture was a cosmopolitan place full of yuppies and such. Surely they would have wanted plasmids for things like weight loss, plastic surgery, making dinner fast.
Even if they are long gone by the fall, it would have been funny if Jack found some random plasmid bottle, took it and then casted and "woof" a bouqet appears in his hand.
Any ideas?

I would love a Plasmid to make you hover or fly, that seems like a useful one for fixing the leaks in the ceiling!

Plamids were invented as a means to give them super human abilities, and there was that war between Fontaine and Ryan, so most of the Plasmids after that would be for offensive use.

If i had a thing that gave me super human abilities like shooting fire and swarms of bees from my hands, practicality like using them for weight loss and other's just goes out of the window.

Well, fluff states there were, in fact, "beauty plasmids". Those also drove their users totally batshit bonkers fastest of all plasmids. I guess that after some tume, people have noticed that and discarded them all or something in that manner.

And yes, developers, we do get the lesson you're trying to teach here... Ne-ext!

And there's also that.

I would love to see a plasmid that improved your reaction time drastically. I'd be a god damn ninja

I thought you'd want one to control time, no?

Your new avatar is very amusing by the way.

When it comes to weight loss and shooting bees out of your hands what would you pick?
Weight loss, without even a fraction of hesitation.
But...you could imitate The Pain from Metal Gear Solid 3 'n stuff.

OT: If I remember the game correctly, the Telekinesis plasmid was actually intended for more domestic purposes anyway (according to one of Suchong's audio diaries). But I'd have really liked to have been at the comittee meeting where they conceived the Vortex Trap- it's a lethal wind-powered magical trampoline, for Science's sake!

That is also an option....

*jumps back in time in TARDIS to affect the design phase of Bioshock 1*

Also cheers!

I've always just assumed that it was a form of gameplay/story segregation. Obviously, in the game you have no use for the "Shining, white teeth plasmid" or the "Perfect Pedicure Plasmid!". But a plasmid that lets you fling fire? Yeah, that's useful.

As somelameshite said; Once the civil war reached a certain point and after the New Year's Eve rebellion the most sought after plasmids were probably the offensive and defensive ones. And since Rapture has an unregulated free market, it makes sense that those are the ones you find when you arrive two years later.

I'd trade the Pain's ability for Snake's physique any day. Especially because Snake beats up Magic Doods(TM) every day as a warmup before breakfast.

I could see how producing a fully cooked turkey from your hand might distract someone if they're hungry, or maybe using that weight-loss plasmid could turn someone into a pile of bones, but not much after that.

Most of the plasmids in Bioshock had innocent uses. the player weaponised them. example: the ads in-game for the incinerate plasmid (which i thoroughly abused) tell you that it was meant to be used to light cigarettes and stoves, not people.
