What if the man had not been yelling at the TV/games? What if he was yelling stuff like "I'm going to kill you! I'm going to rip your arms off and stab you!" and had actually been shouting at a person he had trapped in his house? Would it have been fair for the police to call SWAT then?

Now the the event is over we know he was not, but we don't know the full facts and it was possible the police thought he was a geuine threat. Either way, we don't have the information here that the police had there; their reactions could have been perfectly reasonable to the situation.
Your right man, I totally agree HOWEVA-
I would have pumped that little shit-bag full of beanbag rounds and stormed the house.

A SWAT team? Seriously? One cop with enough leg-strength to kick the door in could have handled the situation, and they called in a fucking SWAT team?

Idiots in power... It makes me wonder how society continues to work...
what if there was more than one perp in the house?

I shout at games like skate and whatnot a lot ,i`m going to have to reinforce my door and calling the SWAT in for that??? why not just call in the millitary so they can take him down and bring this ridiculous over-reaction to a conclusion?

Wow. It's interesting to see the lack of a thought process when gamers get offended. Yeah, the police were called on a gamer, and he said he was just playing games, so why call in SWAT? Well, my thoughtless friends, when the police get called in for a bank robbery, if the thieves say that they're just making a deposit, but then lock the doors and start shouting at the police, do you actually expect them to go 'okay, that's good enough for me. Let's go boys!' Try to use some brain skills here.

1) The man was most likely screaming at the top of his lungs since he could be heard outside of his house, and saying things that would make sailors cringe.

2) The police obviously did not know whether or not there was any danger to a person who possibly could have been inside, because he would not let them inside.

3) They did not know if he was armed, or whether or not he had the capability or intention to kill.

So, if you put in into perspective instead of ranting about how another gamer gets bothered for no reason, you might realise that, yes, the police did indeed have a good reason to be called(psycho man screaming that could be heard from the street,) and yes there was a good reason SWAT was called(psycho man could be armed and dangerous and would not allow the police in his house.) Stop being so full of yourselves thinking that every time a gamer gets in trouble, it's for discriminatory reasons.

In Jersey? You kiddin'?

Remember, kids, we don't have all the facts and don't know the details... let's assume that Mr. Police Officer isn't totally barking nuts for calling in SWAT until we know why he called. There are a ton of perfectly rational reasons to call in SWAT: suspect says he's armed, suggestions that there are others in the house, or hostages, or explosives... earlier in the week a simple collection on an overdue water bill turned into a major multidepartmental operation that seized a private armoury and enough homemade explosives to blow up the trailer park.

Things are never quite as simple as they may seem from a 200-word newswire clipping.

This does seem ludicrous in many ways, but if that guy was being overheard he really needs to lay off the caffeine and energy drinks. When people come aknockin at your door, its a sure clue you need to take a break.

I think he was fine up until he disrespected the officers, but why in the world would SWAT be on it? It's not the damn movies, policemen are actually compitent.
Maybe it's a particularly dangerous neighborhood where people are known to have weapons or something along those lines.

Was it SCREAMING screaming? Or was he swearing alot? Cause if he was screaming screaming he might have been playing a horror game, anyone who's seen 4PP knows that you can be reduced to screaming like a little girl by Fatal Frame.
