This, while i still find the concept stupid, is mildly reassuring that it won't be utter crap.petergriff06 said:Battlelog = Facebook for BF3, you have a friends list, newsfeed. with it you can join their games, create squads with friends etc. All servers on there.teisjm said:So will there be like one big site, that acts just as an in-game server browser?
Or will servers be scattered all over different websites?
More importantly, how the fuck will this work when playing with friends? BFBC2 severely lacked a "join as group" feature, not only making it hard to join the same server unless you tried a half-empty one, but even harder to get on the same team, due to auto-balanceing not giving a fuck if you'd rather play with your friends than against them.
Now if this removes the "join server" option you get by right-clicking a friends name, you'll have to find the same server, from the list.
I don't care bout the Back to karkhan map pack any more, at least not enough to pre-order for the sake of it.
This game is gonna haev to prove itself before i lay down my money, which is a sad turn for a franchise, I would've fully trusted to deliver nothing but awesomeness a year back.
Well then, if all it is a shinier version of Battlefield Heroes, why am I paying 60 bucks for it?Frapple said:Could you please do some research before posting this sensationalist crap & causing people to react as above?
BF3 doesn't have a server browser because BF3 doesn't have a main menu.
Everything is controlled through the Battlelog website, VoIP, server browser, friends list, community forums, stats...everything.
Battlelog is fucking awesome. Seriously.
PS. You don't need to close the game and open it again to change server, simply alt+tab (which is super quick) to Battlelog & find a new one.
Um...what? Steam has had a server/web browser within it's overlay and friends/community menu for quite a while.qwerty19411 said:This is where EA should step in and offer a solution that Steam doesn't have: An overlay with a server browser.
Exactly. It's either shoddy game design or lazy game design to require your players to use a multitude of programs and web browsers to do something as simple as find a server to play on.Dirty Hipsters said:You're not making their case any better with this statement.Frapple said:Everything is controlled through the Battlelog website, VoIP, server browser, friends list, community forums, stats...everything.
All of the indie games (including Killing Floor) that were in the potato sack pack a few months ago opened a web browser when certain conditions were met in-game. Or you can just open the interface yourself and do it.qwerty19411 said:Never seen this on Killing Floor. Source engine only?Vigormortis said:Um...what? Nope. You just press Shift+Tab to open the Steam overlay, and from there you can find and join servers from ... well, quite a lot of games.qwerty19411 said:Never seen this on Killing Floor. because Im already annoyed at the amount of control ea is attempting to exert over it and this is just more of that, besides, there are lots of games coming out this holiday season, its not hard to ignore one of themC95J said:Why are people so angry about this? You people are never happy with anything, are you? Seriously, you spend weeks talking good about the game, then one thing comes up that you don't like and suddenly you refuse to buy it. Seems very childish to me.
