Alt-Tab is the direct opposite of efficient. Besides, it suffers EXACTLY the same issues as "Always-On DRM". You know, the most reviled thing that developers have done, ever.Ivan Torres said:>More efficient UI = being lazyMr.K. said:Wow do people have low standards.Couch Radish said:What's wrong with a Facebook-esque way to check stats and join games? Isn't saying you're going to cancel a pre-order a little hasty, by something you haven't even seen or used?
It's a cleaner and simpler way to do that. It's just that.
And they have to have a server browser on the consoles because viewing a Webpage and even using it is a damn nightmare. I owned a PS3 once.
OK let me explain what in development circles a web page UI translates to "laziest bodge job known to man", only seen in the shittiest of indie games, a triple A title with that... there was none before this.
Your logic baffles me.
You dont have to Alt-Tab out. You hit exit game and it takes you directly to your browser, which has the server browser on it. I'ts really quick, easy to use, and makes sense. ive used it, and it works a hell of a lot better than a lot of other browsers I have used.lacktheknack said:Alt-Tab is the direct opposite of efficient. Because dickery is the only language they speak, I suggest you buy it used from Gamestop. I know I will.Sizzle Montyjing said:*slow-clap*
Well done EA, well done.
I know consoles are a lucrative market and all, but have you stopped trying to get money out of the PC gaming crowd?
They offer you money, you decline and slap them with your genitals.
Good thing i'm getting this on console i suppose.
edit: I would bet every dollar i have ever made that if Valve released this system it would not be a problem because "OMG ITS VALVE(jizzes in pants)"
edit: yes I MAD
And yet, it's still as bad as Always On DRM.ChickenZombie said:You dont have to Alt-Tab out. You hit exit game and it takes you directly to your browser, which has the server browser on it. Only once you have spawned? usually after making plenty of changes including adding loads of AA and AF you need to restart.petergriff06 said:Once in game you can change settings but only once you have spawned.
Just to clarify there is a server browser, it's just part of Battlelog so to start searching for a server to join you just have to open a new tab/your web browser, join one and boom it's loading the map, no waiting for a menu to load...
You know what the worst is; there are dedicated servers. They just seem to be hell-bend on making this extremely convulted and plain user unfriendly. I'm getting doubts on whether I want this game or not.KissofKetchup said:I smell another "THEY DIDN'T LET US HAVE DEDICATED SERVERS SO LET''S SHIT ALL OVER THE FLOOR IN PROTEST!!!1!!!!" event happening again
If it's only alpha they might change it, if the backlash is big enough. I freakin' hope so...alrekr said:For reference I played the alpha and I hated the method of launching the game; at the time I as like "its only alpha", but now DICE can go shove it.
To think I was going to buy this game.
I wouldn't go that far. While it sounds stupid and convulted, at least it doesn't treat the customer as a criminal.lacktheknack said:And yet, it's still as bad as Always On DRM.
But you still have to re-boot the game, or alt-tab, which can also be pretty damn slow. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for sure, but I'm definitely not going to pre-order this game now. I might still get it, but I'm going to wait for some user reports about stuff like this.ChickenZombie said:It's nowhere NEAR as bad as it sounds. It sounds like a pain but it actually works very well. In my experience it was easy to use and very fast, better than any other browser the battlefield games had
Changing them did not require a restart but there were no detailed options only resolution and low, medium and high.Senarrius said:Only once you have spawned? usually after making plenty of changes including adding loads of AA and AF you need to restart.petergriff06 said:Once in game you can change settings but only once you have spawned.

This all seems like a major step backwards to me.
Battlelog = Facebook for BF3, you have a friends list, newsfeed. with it you can join their games, create squads with friends etc. All servers on there.teisjm said:So will there be like one big site, that acts just as an in-game server browser?
Or will servers be scattered all over different websites?
More importantly, how the fuck will this work when playing with friends? BFBC2 severely lacked a "join as group" feature, not only making it hard to join the same server unless you tried a half-empty one, but even harder to get on the same team, due to auto-balanceing not giving a fuck if you'd rather play with your friends than against them.
Now if this removes the "join server" option you get by right-clicking a friends name, you'll have to find the same server, from the list.
I don't care bout the Back to karkhan map pack any more, at least not enough to pre-order for the sake of it.
This game is gonna haev to prove itself before i lay down my money, which is a sad turn for a franchise, I would've fully trusted to deliver nothing but awesomeness a year back.
That seems really useless to me, only low, medium and high?!petergriff06 said:Changing them did not require a restart but there were no detailed options only resolution and low, medium and high.Senarrius said:Only once you have spawned? usually after making plenty of changes including adding loads of AA and AF you need to restart.petergriff06 said:Once in game you can change settings but only once you have spawned.
