No need to be hostile about my views. I just hate the PC and Console fanboys/girls. What do you mean by *Those* topics exactly? Also, you choose to read my thread. If you did not have any real thing to add to it then do not post in it.

Fanboyism is irritating no matter the platform, to be honest. However, PC fanboys seem to be quite prolific for some odd reason.

That said, I can't stand people who judge others based on a hardware purchase.

Exactly, they are children. Nobody over the age of 16 seriously gives a shit about which one is "better", unless they have severe social or mental problems.

I understand that people have different opinions but when you get someone who just acts like a PC or Console is GOD's gift to gaming than that person is a serious fanboy/girl or elitist.

It is no better than Narcissism. Just because something is superior does not give that person the right to walk over other people because they own a piece of gaming hardware!

I like both the PC and the Consoles but to some people that is a sin against nature.

It's gotten old, Consoles are better for some things, PCs are better for other things. It just depends on what games you want and how you want them to be played.

There are only two types of games I feel work best on PC: MMOs and RTSs.

I want to make a statement here and now to anyone about to reply to the below: I DO NOT CARE how amazingly high-spec your machine is. I am not prepared to custom-build a PC with liquid NO2 overclocking and 3.729Terrathules-Per-Quantum memory capacity and a V8 engine for a processing chip. My PC comes in a box marked "Home Computer", it gets set up and it gets run for 6 years or so until it catches fire and dies. In short, I DO NO CARE what your custom-built Gaming Machine can do.

I simply cannot stand PCs for other forms of gaming. They lag, they glitch, they fuck up royally, they don't install properly, they don't uninstall properly... in short, PC gaming makes the 360 look reliable, and that's one hell of an insult.

The control issue with PCs is that you are taking a system designed for work and trying to play with it. This is fine for MMOs where you want to be able to type, or RTS where it's all drag-and-click, but I like having shoulder buttons to circle strife with.

Then there's the fact that even buying games is a fucking minefield. I got royally pissed off with PCs back when I got Jedi Knight II for my (fairly) new PC, and it wouldn't install. Why? My graphics card wasn't new enough. So the game I really wanted went back to the shop, and I never got to play it. Ever.

Consoles are the ultimate gaming tool - you plug it in, it works. It'll play the game that came out last week, the game that came out today, the games that come out in eight years time. Consoles are the way to go for gaming.

It's pointless bickering about what platforms things are released on. As long as we get good games, why should we care what we play them on? Sure, some games are better suited to the world of the PC (RTS games being a biggie), but some games do better on the consoles. It's all a matter of preference really: so there's no need to bicker about it.

I like both, consoles (I own an xbox, PS1, PS2, PS3) for racing games, fighting games, sports games. While I like PCs for FPS, RPG (only because of Fo3 and Morrowind/Oblivion) and strategy games. If I could only have one, it would have to be the PC, only because it has a good selection and I (as a general rule) enjoy playing games for PC more than consoles.

fu6azi really hit the nail on the head there for those who have been playing PC games for years, no tutorials, no simple gameplay, difficult games, that required more thought than newer generational games (see: Fallout 1&2 vs Fallout 3).

Personally I spend 70% of my gaming time on my PC, however I also own Xbox360/Wii/DS.

On PC I play FPS, RTS, and RPG.

My consoles are for Action, Fighting, Adventure, Racing games.

My DS is for Language games, and Strategy RPG's.

Being a fighting game fanatic I am glued to console permanently, however PC gaming is just higher quality in general compared to consoles. I understand why a lot of people might not have a gaming rig, it gets expensive to build one and then replace parts or the whole computer every few years. If you hate PC gaming elitists see about taking a trip into their world for a while to see why they hold that view. It doesn't excuse them from being elitists but it can help you understand that they may not be elitist at all, just angry about how their favorite hobby isn't as good as it once was.

As for console wars... LOL

I operate on fact and even though I'm a huge Nintendo fanboy (omg Zelda+Metroid 4lyfe) Microsoft's console has the biggest and best selection of games right now in consoles. This is fact.

Uh where was I? I don't know, it's time to go back to playing some fighting games.

Compare Bioshock's console-friendly release to System Shock 2.

Compare Oblivion's console-friendly release to Morrowind.

If there's one argument I could make in an effort to validate my recently-developed viewpoint as a self-proclaimed "PC Snob", it would be that this current generation of console games seem to be catered towards a very simple audience that prefers flash over substance and a horizontal learning curve over one that offers any room for growth or creativity at all.

Fair enough in its own right. Unfortunately, when gaming companies that PC gamers have stood by before anyone would have guessed that Microsoft would release its own gaming consoles start to cater towards tards... well. PC gamers are forced to watch some of their favorite IPs degenerate in the same manner that we've been forced to watch mainstream television and film degenerate.

"But, wait!" You cry.

"Elitist! There's nothing wrong with the mainstream getting what the mainstream wants!"

Well, you could be right. The issue is that most true PC gamers have been flying around in jets in 32 player CTF matches in open arenas before you were aware that such a thing was possible. In some cases, we are the audience that allowed the success of companies that now feel confident in shitting out unintelligent, uninspired fascism simulators like COD4.

The fact is that we feel betrayed. We do not appreciate the fact that a console audience is dumbing down a thing that we've always held so dear.

We long for the days of games that took proper talent to play correctly. We long for the days in which encountering a 13-year-old with a mic was absolutely unheard of. We long for the days when gaming was exciting. When innovation and creativity was the rule.

Personally, I feel Counter Strike played a large role in dumbing down PC gaming and gaming in general. Boring, repetitive games full of people that feel talented for being able to score kills on targets glued to the ground with hitscan weapons. Grats.

And don't get me started on CoD4. It's an abomination. It stands in defiance of everything that gaming could and should be.

You may think I'm wrong, or being a bit too harsh. Closed minded, even.

I hate both PC snobs and Console fan-boys/girls. I own a PC and the consoles as well. How is COD4 and abomination? Even PC enthusiasts praised it. Hell, at a PC gaming center most everyone there plays it. Most PC gamers play it as well. Explain to me how it is an abomination.

Mass Effect is a pretty creative game. It is not a console owners fault for dumbing down the market it is the company that produces the games for not putting enough creativity into the gameplay aspect of the game.

Some people can't shell out $900.00 for a good gaming computer or afford the upgrades to play a new game so they buy a console. In this economy that is all anyone can really afford.

If you feel so strongly about this then why don't you become a programmer and making PC games like the way you used to play them.

You were also the mainstream back then and now because game companies switched to a different mainstream you complain about not getting a game the exact way that you wanted it. You are being no better than a child that can't have a toy so you complain about it and hope someone will listen.

You are no better than that Left 4 Dead 2 boycott group.

I only see the discussion of "CONSOLES ARE BETTER/WORSE THAN PC'S" when people make topics whining about people discussing it.


Anyway, I PC game because my 360 red-ringed a couple weeks after the warranty failed. I've packed my job up for extra studying, and apparently my Xbox was so supportive, it sacrificed itself for my studying too.

So yeah, PC games are just easier at this point.

Anyway I prefer consoles but I couldn't possibly care less that other people like to use PC's, for me it's a matter of location, I don't really like gaming at a desk, I prefer to kick back on my couch and play on the big screen.
