Yes while everyone might be trying to catch Valve when it comes to digital distribution none of the really big companies seem to get it. EA couldn't run a digital store to save their life, and neither can Microsoft despite their experience with Xbox live. The only other really decent digital store out there is GOG and that is only by virtue of just how simple and a non issue it is, compared to everything else.
I'm convinced that the reason no one else seems to be able to run a digital store is because they are all corporations and they don't understand building up things like user trust and good will towards your players. They also don't get their target audience either. Vavle on the other hand is operated like most non corporate businesses, they understand that having the loyalty of their customer is paramount even if it means losing a chance to make a quick buck now because in the long run that loyalty will matter.
