A dualcore at 2.0Ghz isn't the same as a singlecore at 4.0Ghz.The Abhorrent said:it says a dual-core at 2.0 GHz... is that effectively a single at 4.0 Ghz, or am I wrong? Well, there's also the fact I've been able to run some games which my PC hasn't met the minimum requirements on CYRI (for example, DA:O and DA2);
Depends very much on the code you're running and how it's optimised to run... Is the code isn't optimised to use multicore CPUs and just uses what processing is available then it's pretty much the same effect. Not exactly the same, mind, but close enough for a lot of things. If the code simply won't allow multicore, then the single core is actually better (but this kind of code is pretty rare these days). If, however, the code is optimised to take advantage of multiple cores then it makes use of a lot of parallel processing which means it won't work on a singlecore CPU.
