I don't drink or do drugs, but it's not for a good reason. I'm just not interested in the idea of drinking a can of beer. I'm pretty sure I could get into drinking cocktails. They have a variety and art to creating them that really appeals to me.

Definitively not innocent, but I no longer drink except in passing, and far between those times. Many reasons have contributed to this, most pointedly when my brother and then sister both died within months of each other from liver failure due to excessive drinking. To be clear, they weren't blood relatives or in-laws, but rather personally adopted family because of how close we all were. And on top of that one of my best friends and another friend died in a car wreck directly related to drunk driving, also a few months before my brother died. So yeah I've taken a second and third look at drinking and found its not something I'm fond of. Also my mother's an alcoholic, and had massive issues due to her drinking and I was fast on my way of becoming one before I quit.
Otherwise I've experimented with harder stuff but never more than passing recreation, except pot which I'm a massive legalization advocate for many reasons. Which I don't get into other than to say its nowhere near as bad as propaganda makes it out to be.

6. I view consumption of it as a weakness.
Better watch out, you might hurt yourself falling down that mighty high horse of yours.
Drinking alcohol in moderation is by no means a sign of weakness in any way and looking down on others who enjoy a drink from time to time and calling them 'weak' is hands down idiotic. I mostly drink one or two beers after a rough day at work to take the edge off and because I absolutely love the taste of a good beer (living in Belgium helps in that regard). I go a bit further at parties sometimes because it helps me jump over my shadow and actually talk to people from time to time. Nothing wrong with that.
Weed is different. I consider it a much milder drug than alcohol definitely but I don't have much of a taste for it. Nothing wrong with it either though.

Ooh, no thanks- my lucidity is all I've really got, I have no interest in throwing it away for the evening.

On top of that, I can't help but be worried about the permanent effects of a substance that can influence you to the degree that alcohol does. Like, being drunk is just your brain not working properly. Sounds great!

Same deal for recreational drugs. Definitely gonna steer clear of the whole deal.

I drink so infrequently I can tell you the last time I drank. Though it was also because a friend wanted me to drink with him because his mom died, so that probably helps a bit. I haven't drank since November 2004, and I don't really feel the need to. And I don't do illegal substances, though everyone seems convinced I'm stoned.

I'm just not interested. There's no religious reasons, and health reasons only directly apply to smoking something like tobacco or marijuana. I have fairly severe allergies to smoke. But otherwise...Eh. I don't enjoy the experience of drinking all that much. I doubt I would enjoy any other experience much more.

I don't think it's against the law to admit you've taken drugs in the past or to condone them, at-least not in the UK or US. If you mean against the forum rules... it's sort of a grey area. We're forbidden from "advocating... illegal drugs in the U.S." according to the Code of Conduct, though from my experience only people who really obviously advocate taking drugs as a good thing and encourage the reader to also do so gets hit with the banhammer. As far as I've seen, just admitting you've tried weed is fairly safe.

I don't touch either. My father was an alcoholic and I have an addictive personality, which makes me pretty much the #1 risk group for alcoholism or drug addiction. I don't see a point in taking the chance.

Never plan on fucking myself over. I enjoy a good rum every now and again, but that's like one or two shots and I'm done...it's tasty but I cannot stomach much before it just makes me ill, not drunk either just ill...

Drugs, hell no...I may have marijuana once to try it out...but that's it, only because it's actually GOOD for your health contrary to popular belief...so there is no real negative repercussions outside of maybe raiding my/friends fridge...

Well... To be honest... I don't see anything that could benefit me if I ever did drink...

I mean, I still respect those that do (more than how I used to all those years ago), but I rather be your designated driver than your drinking buddy...

(Yet... I still believe that "pot" is not a drug... or at least a typical bad drug...)

I've had very very few drinks, mostly the occasional sip. I hate the taste of all beer, wine and liquor. I also haven't even SEEN any drugs in my life, and I don't plan on it.

nah I love drugs

Ironically the common legal drugs are the ones I try to avoid these days. Tobacco seems pointless and makes me physically sick, and I don't like the person I am when I'm drunk anymore (I like spirits and wines for the taste, I just don't binge).

Weird that many of the people saying they don't see the appeal are people who've never tried it, but whatever

I choose to not indulge in such because I'm not interested in screwing my body over at my age. I'm also underage, but even as I become an adult, I have promised not to have any drugs or alcohol.

Not that it's gonna stop me from becoming a hit at parties, right guys? Right... guys....?
Id say if youre confident enough to go to parties and stay sober then I would encourage you to do so. If you are an interesting person then youll be ok just expect to be a glorified taxi driver and never be a dick and say "I was sober heres a video of you....and does your head hurt this morning". I dont know what age you are because a lot of us at a young age say "ill never drink or do druvs" then we get caught up in the moment. I sincerely hope you live up to what you said and all the best to you when you are old enough

I drink, when the occasion is appropriate, and I've smoked tobacco and cannabis once each but got nothing from it. I'm happy to leave it at that since the curiosity is sated and I don't much fancy inhaling smoke of any kind.

I avoid drugs and alcohol for all the obvious reasons, health, illegality, etc. However my main reason is simply I don't like to not be in control of my body and mind. Alcohol and mind altering drugs may not be some kind of sentient parasite, but it still creeps me out knowing I would not be in full control. Maybe a little over-dramatic reasoning, but that is just how I feel.

Plus I'm going for the "Alcohalt" lifetime achievement, it's worth at least 50 gamerscore points. :p

Reminds me of this for some reason.

Funny, for everyone saying they don't like doing recreational drugs because of the loss of "control" or "health reasons"

You cannot control your health (to an extent, you can manage your health and fair enough avoiding excessive consumption of things that are bad for you helps) and you don't really have control over your mental state. Also I don't believe that being under the influence of drugs or alcohol makes you "lose control" I think people say that to rationalize. But that's just me.

i have technically had a handful of sips of alcohol between the ages of 6 and 13 in the way that kids do, but have never had alcohol besides that.
i have never ingested an illicit mind-altering drug (which i define since some semantic tit always tries to pull the "well, you have caffeine, ha ha you're a drug user!" in these types of discussions)

i have never understood the human preoccupation with using chemical induced stupidity as a form of entertainment, and simply never felt the slightest inclination to indulge in the practice.

Never ever nothing. I don't even have that big of an issue with people who do drink/smoke, but it just doesn't appeal to me. I've got things to do, and being high and drunk doesn't really help me do them. During particularly depressed times in my life, I have considered just going all out, but thankfully I've always found other ways to dig myself out of those holes.

Ironically, most people I meet think I smoke because of my appearance/voice, and often I've had people ask if they could score some weed from me. I even had a cop stop me on the street and demand that I show him the drugs he was certain I had. Joke's on him.
