It's nice to know that in some countries (like Sweden) it's actually illegal to name your child something that could be the source of psychological stress/trauma.

Personally I haven't come across too many weird names, unless you count "English" names given to ppl I've met during my upbringing travelling in African countries. There, it's not unusual for people to give their children "poetic" English names. (Examples: Lightwell, Beauty. Basically, take words that actually mean something and make some quite beautiful names out of them, rather than generic names that don't mean anything anymore).

Oh yeah? Tell that to the former German minister of defense, <url=http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl-Theodor_zu_Guttenberg>Karl Theodor Maria Nikolaus Johann Jacob Philipp Franz Joseph Sylvester Freiherr von und zu Guttenberg! Granted, being an aristocrat normally kinda lands you with more than one name, but that's just ridiculous.
Well, the guy in question is French (hence all the hyphens)... =P

Anyway, you can tell that minister's a Catholic, never understood why they got 'Maria' and 'Joseph' among their middle names (usually, regardless of gender). Still, I love German noble styles, one of the reasons being you don't get 'of and at' or 'by' in any other language. IIRC, though, 'Freiherr' is treated purely as name, not a title...(?)

HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I can't quite remember her name, but I think there was a new girl at a lower year in my school called Princess Bagsack.

I use to go to school with "Gorim Jones", and "Riamwii Jones".

I think that the whelsh surname just makes its perfect. Their names are completely unique because they are both a mix of their parents names.

The Dad was called Gorin or something, and the mum was Rima. (I'm not sure the wii came from haha)

Ben Dover and Harry Hole comes to mind. Seriously. Who names their kids those kinds of names?

Also having the same surname and first name is also pretty bad.
Harry Hole, as in the fictional character from a bookseries by Jo Nesbø?

Or an actual person named that?

I know that the fictional character name is pronounced differently in norwegian, the original language the book was written in.

I still pronounced it in english, though.

I remember hearing on the news about a guy being refused a driving license or something because his surname was Dikshit (pronounced 'dixit') and the DVLA thought it was fake. Certainly believable, I used to work with a guy whose surname was Rakshit, although he pronounced it like 'ratchet'.

Actually, a Freiherr is kinda like a baron.

Richard Sexual..... You're thinking Dick Sexual, right? Worse. People would wait for him to be in the distance and shout "Bye" "Bye Sexual".

I use to come across a lot of personal data from people.

I came across one Asian immigrant couple that were named Mang ho (Husband/Father) and his wife Bich Le.

Granted these names were not given to them in English and in their country were more or less Normal. But in english....

Hmmm, the weirdest name I can think of out of the people I know is someone called Matvey. He is a Russian immigrant so that seems quite likely.

[look, its an edit!] I also know someone called El, well at least she can always guarantee to call her character in rpgs her own name, unlike me (name is Matthew btw)

Oh, I knew that, but I thought that since the German constitution didn't allow the upholding of patents of nobility, noble styles were to be treated as names as opposed to titles.

About 'Freiherr', I always had trouble getting my head around it, because it translates literally as 'Free Lord', even though I always associate 'Herr' with 'sir (informal)' in accordance with common parlance of the translation into English (e.g. Meine Herrn - feel free to correct).
