Im just waiting for the inevitable game they are going to make about it, imagine Whales Creed: Revenge of the Sea Mammals. Some of there games have been entertaining though I general cant stand the dialogue as it is painful to read.
I will happily play the heck out of Whales' Creed.
Anyway.
PETA, I used to just laugh you off but after I saw your euthanization rates, I am absolutely disgusted by the idea that you "care" for animals, let alone these digital sea mammals.

Semi-off topic, I didn't know there were whales in Assassin's Creed IV, and that picture made it look pretty cool.

What PETA don't seem to realise is that humans are animals as well... and this is a game which Quite Literally Glorifies the Killing of Humans! It is about Assassins.
I wouldn't say they glorify it. In the context of the story that doesn't make sense
Much of the inner conflict the main characters face is struggling with the ideal of being an assassin. I think Ezio said it best near the end of Embers:
"The life of an assassin is pain, Jun. You suffer it, you inflict it, you watch it happen in the hope that you can make it disappear in time. A terrible irony...."
I know I may be nitpicking, but I want to clarify that point. It's important to the story.

OT: Just Peta being Peta again. Best ignore them.
Well, I'm not going to bother arguing such a silly point, but seriously, who else thinks that on the whole the Assassin's Creed series make assassins seem like total badasses?

A bit of grim cynicism only adds to the heroic qualities.

I don't think the excited anticipation everyone had for both Assassins Creed 3 and again with Assassin's Creed 4 that the people who actually play the games "hope that you can make it disappear in time".

"Whaling may seem like something out of the history books"

Well, here's the thing PETA. AC is set in fucking history. A jumbled up, liberties taken version of history in which Leonardo Da Vinci plays Q to Ezio's 007 and George Washington is a king and a tyrant, but history nonetheless.

Wait, why am I even discussing this? THIS IS ONE FUCKING SCREENSHOT PETA. DO YOU EVEN READ YOUR OWN BULLSHIT?

Has anybody here read Moby Dick? Because ever since I did, I've prayed for a game where I'm allowed to go whaling the good old fashioned way. I'm not expecting that game mechanic to be any good... but oh well. At least if all whales would fight as Moby Dick did, now that would be fun. As for real whaling... I believe that some limited whaling still goes on in the far north, done by tribesmen in canoes. Kudos for them. As for those japanese "scientist" pricks, they can all go down to Davy Jones for all I care. I'm a sailor by trade and have seen whales in the wild. The moment our lookout officer saw them, he yelled it on the cabin speakers and we all rushed out to film them. How could anyone kill those gentle leviathans is beyond me. On the other hand, modern whaling has to be the smallest problem in our relationship with animals. Just watch "Earthlings" if you want to see just how puny and misguided PETA is.

I thought these trolls stopped being relevant around the whole sea kittens promotion, or that cooking game. Its funny because I swear every time I read an article about PETA the head line always starts out with "It's getting harder and harder to take PETA seriously anymore.". I never took those clowns seriously, not even worth getting mad about they're nothing but the same joke you hear every couple of months.

So they have no problem with the main character of the game being someone who coldly and unfeelingly murders and hacks through swathes of his fellow man, but even the possibility of whaling is just too damn terrible to bear?

PETA really are kind of morons, aren't they? I honestly can't think of anyone I've ever met who takes their crap seriously any more.
Didn't you know that PETA couldn't give a rat's ass about people since on their website they post Holocaust images juxstaposed with pics from animal processing plants and ranches. Yeah, us killing and roasting a chicken is the same to them as when Nazis crowded the Jews and other people they considered to be of less worth into crematories.

Hey, remember Movie Bob's Big Picture episode in which he provided evidence that PETA isn't an animal rights group and that every time they do this, they're simply begging for attention? If not: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/the-big-picture/4988-Skin-Game

And speaking of PETA's true purpose, I'm surprised that they have a problem with whaling. After all, it's not all that different from what they do. The main difference is that they don't make use of their animal carcasses.

Seems a group of people cannot distinguish between real life and computer generated pixels, maybe we should send them to pyschologists to examine their mental health. Now if they were protesting actual real life whaling groups that would be fair enough, but come on PETA this was an accepted practice during the time when this game takes place. It's like Slavery, it isn't an accepted practice anymore (for good reason) but before the American Revolution it was a common practice.
It was quite common after the American Revolution, as well. I think you're looking for the Civil War there, Skippy.

Right my mistake sorry obviously wrote that before I thought about it and confused myself.

Game too late there guys, but good try.

ho yeah, PETA has those big pleather campaign things. Wear pleather not leather or whatever. Pleather is petroleum based, which kills way more whales then a fictional videogame. Logic!

And killing animals in the last game?

Hey, how about killing the fucking humans?

Oh dear, some things I struggle to understand.
