A study done by the Pacific Health Research Institute followed over 3000 Japanese men between 1965 and 1999, which showed a positive correlation between cerebral atrophy and consumption of tofu.[44] [source wikipedia[

SOOOOO, that information upthere, combined with the fact that tofu is made with an "edible" form of gypsum rock? ANND that its completly tasteless on its own?

yeeaaah no thanks peta. ill sit here and eat my delicious pogo's and burgers and BBQ'd ribs.

i say we all go buy a bucket of KFC, and hurled chicken chunks at these activists, whose with me??

So, I made this absolutely DELICIOUS tofu dish. It was like eating french bread covered in cream cheese and smothered in home made tomato sauce with cheese. It was FANTASTIC.

Bacon is still better. You lose even when you win, PETA.

I was just looking at my STeam update news...and I found this in the update for Super Meat Boy

"Added Tofu Boy, type in "Petaphile" at the character select screen. (He's sickly so he's weak and can't run or jump well.)"

Thats pretty hilarious. I's sure that PETA is going for a political message (And a less offensive one then usual PETA fare, since Super Meat Boy can't really be taken too seriously to begin with), but looks like the creators of SMB are having some fun with it.

You know, the funny thing is that PETA has killed more animals than everyone combined in this thread.

The following story is from This is True dated 17 July 2005. It is Copyright 2005 Randy Cassingham, all rights reserved, and reprinted here with permission [http://www.thisistrue.com/peta.html]:

After more than 100 dead dogs were dumped in a trash dumpster over four weeks, police in Ahoskie, N.C., kept an eye on the trash receptacle behind a supermarket. Sure enough, a van drove up and officers watched the occupants throw in heavy plastic bags. They detained the two people in the van and found 18 dead dogs in plastic bags in the dumpster, including puppies; 13 more dead dogs were still in the van. Police say the van is registered to the headquarters of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, and the two occupants, Andrew B. Cook, 24, and Adria Joy Hinkle, 27, identified themselves as PETA employees. An autopsy performed on one of the dogs found it was healthy before it was killed. Police say PETA has been picking up the animals -- alive -- from North Carolina animal shelters, promising to find them good homes. Cook and Hinkle have been charged with 62 felony counts of animal cruelty. In response to the arrests PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said it's against the group's policy for employees to dump animals in the trash, but "that for some animals in North Carolina, there is no kinder option than euthanasia." (Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald) ...Oops, my mistake: that's "Playing God" Defined.
In his author's notes section, Cassingham had more to say about this story:
The more I learn about PETA, the less I think of them. The story of them killing animals isn't even unusual. According to PETA's own filings, in 2004 PETA killed 86.3 percent of the animals entrusted to its care -- a number that's rising, not falling. Meanwhile, the SPCA in PETA's home town (Norfolk, Va.) was able to find loving homes for 73 percent of the animals put in its care. A shortage of funds? Nope: last year PETA took in $29 million in tax-exempt donations. It simply has other priorities for the funds, like funding terrorism (yes, really). But don't take my word for it: I got my figures from http://www.PETAkillsAnimals.com [http://www.PETAkillsAnimals.com] -- and they have copies of PETA's state and federal filings to back it up. The bottom line: if you donate money to PETA because you think they care for and about animals, you need to think some more. PETA literally yells and screams about how others "kill animals" but this is how they operate? Pathetic.
And you know what I wonder? PETA's official count of animals they kill is 86.3 percent. But if they're going around picking up animals, killing them while they drive around and not even giving them a chance to be adopted, and then destroying the evidence by dumping the bodies in the trash, are those deaths being reported? My guess: no. While 86.3 percent is awful, the actual number is probably much, much higher. How dare they lecture anyone about the "ethical" treatment of animals!

I... I'm fucking speechless. Mother. Fucking. Speechless.

Will PETA ever stop ripping off popular gaming and saying "MEAT CHARACTER! IS BAD! GRR! PLAY AS CHICKEN INSTEAD!" Hell, if someone ran into their building with a flamethrower and tourched the place, I'd be amazed if some people DIDN'T blame videogames at some point.

Hey, I got the Cooking Mama thing. It was teaching kids how to make meat-based products (Well, not really, but still.) And PETA finds that a no-no. And the whole "MARIO! SMASH HIM!" Sort of made sence - the guy jumped on turtles and punched dinos/dragons in the head. But this? For all we know, Meat Boy's a blob of human flesh - and he's trying to save a fucking BAND-AID. You know, A THING FOR HELPING WOUNDS. You know, like THE EXACT FUCKING OPPOSITE OF CAUSING THEM. As in, THE THING PETA FUCKING WANTS.

Why doesn't PETA get that all these video game ripoffs, gory vids and titties aren't doing a god-damn thing to help their case that they're smarter then "THOSE FUCKING MEAT-EATING PRICKS?" Hell, I can do a better advert then them!

a very good friend of mine is vegan and he frequently complains about how, because of PETA, people think of him as a fanatic nutjob who wants to force his believes on everybody else
As a vegetarian, I get the same bullshit, especially on this forum.

Look, I have no love for PETA, but hell, I can't help but look at this and laugh, and hell, considering people are getting so upset over this, I can't help but feel that PETA succeeded in their mission.

PeTA are people who create campaigns like "Your mommy kills animals!", aimed towards children. And this is just an example. Seriously, anything they do needs to be crucified!

How you can think that's not hilarious is beyond me...
Er, dude? Last time I checked, PETA's mission was to convince people to go vegan, not piss them off. I mean, if PETA's goal the whole time was to just piss meat-eaters off untill they wanted to run around the building with a chainsaw, then yeah, mission accoplished, but that isn't exacaly convincing, now is it?

As for the poster, it's funny untill you realise that it really IS being sent to CHILDREN. Children are seeing that. Personaly, the thought of that isn't particularly ammusing, but then again, I'm not really a fan of shadenfruader, (Or however you spell it) so... Yeah.

I've always had a special place in my heart for PETA. As a member of the ASPCA and someone who has put in volunteer time helping stray animals, i have always wanted to put my foot through the head of those PETA fuckers. I'm trying to get stricter legislation against puppy mills passed on a federal level and these stupid fuckers are off making tofu boy and protesting the president killing a fly. With how ridiculous they are, they're only a hindrance to real animal rights advocates.

But their irrational hatred of any meat product and bizarre worship of tofu, which i honestly viewed as a stand alone dish and have never used as a meat substitute since my girlfriend is still willing to eat eggs, is just plain stupid. Tofu is soybean curd. Largely flavorless. Humans are naturally omnivores and have a primal craving for meat. Just accept it as human nature and stop trying to demonize meat products, would you kindly?

1.) Eating an animal is worse than eating a plant
How can that not be argued? Evidence, please. If it's a fact, it needs evidence.

Of course, that statement has annoyed me anyway. Now I'm gonna eat a cow. Just a little bit. But I'm gonna make sure it's one cow killed. Because needless waste in the name of contempt turns me on.

Do don't get it, do they? If people didn't eat animals, not only would many starve to death, or die of malnutrition due to unavailable dietary replacements, their precious cows would die too. There would be little reason to keep them around, other than for milk and cheese (and if PETA had its way, those would be illegal too. Vegans are fucking crazy, cows need to be milked, or they die), so they would be set free... only to starve and/or be eaten in the wild. Same goes with other farm animals, and even deer... if hunters didn't kill so many, they would become overpopulated, die, and then be eaten by some hungry animal (like another deer). Then that animal might get sick if the first deer was around for too long, and then it would die, and be eaten, and so on and so on. Oh, and not to mention the deaths would be horribly agonizing, as opposed to a quick death delivered from a rifle. It wouldn't be as much as a problem if wolves hadn't been killed so much, but protecting your family and food is more important to basically everyone who isn't a wackjob PETA activist, so they killed (and will continue to kill) wolves to do this.

And now, this thread will be filled with people calling fire and brimstone upon PETA, whilst to me, this looks more like a rather humorous parody, sure, it's got a motive, but hell, it's not like they've just initialized a campaign to kill all meat eaters on the planet...
not yet ....

PETA is also the NUMBER ONE euthanizers of animals.
Seriously, PETA owns a huge Freezer that is only used for 1 of 2 things, containing cuts of meat or cadavers (dead bodies) regardless how you look at it, that translates to dead animals (Check their PUBLIC TAX RECORDS, all non-profit organizations have their tax info as public domain).

Why you ask, PETA takes on more animals than they can handle and they euthanize more than half of (if not more) what they take in to shelter. More so than the American Humane Society (a legit animal rights group) who only euthanize animals when injuries or illness of an animal is more than what Veterinary medicine can help with. Also PETA (considered by many) believe to be connected to domestic terrorist/ criminal groups such as the Animal Liberation Front (according to the US Dept of Justice).

Please let me know when the collective members of PETA release their malfunctioning brains all over a wall. Until then I couldn't care less about this group's half-arsed, ill thought out, pseudo-philosophical politicking.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a total carnivore, I eat more meat in a month than probably the entirety of the country of India.

I'm just saying that for this guy to argue that a plant suffers like an animal does, when a plant has no brain or conscious thought is insane. I'm not saying eating meat is a bad thing to do, just that from a moral standpoint if anything it is slightly worse than eating plant material.

That said, it's nature, biological life is sustained by killing and consuming eachother, and nobody should apologize for eating meat.

Meat Boy kidnaps Bandage Girl, thus turning her into Bondage girl (I had to. I really did)

I have yet to play Super Meat Boy. I need to download it now though, I suppose. Then again, the last popular platformer I downloaded (Braid) ended up forgotten within the first 48 hours.
I have to be honest. When I read the description I thought it said "Bondage Girl" the second time around.

I fucking hate Peta, bunch of self righteous a-holes. How about instead of getting mad about digital content they go help animals that aren't pixels? I bet the guys in a single episode of Animal Rescue on Animal Planet have done more than Peta has in 15 years.

Why can't we all have this simple rule, if you have a full fridge and belly don't tell others how to eat.
Amen!

As someone who actually cares about animals, screw you, PETA.

They took the cause "don't hurt cute animals" and made it into a SOCIAL STIGMA. How can you possibly suck THAT badly at your cause? Only you, PETA, only you.
