Peter Molyneux Apologizes for Over-Promising

Fable 3 made me sad. It was like playing through the whole game numb then a wave of huge disappointment hitting you a little later after finishing it. I like Peter though, he really does try hard and if took the time to actually come through on his promises he could make great games. He needs to stop making Fable games for awhile.

Molyneux just wants to make the best damn game he can make, and who wouldn't want that? His determination and creative thinking is something that we can all adore from the guy.

But sometimes he doesn't put that creative mind to proper use. He innovates at times, sure, but usually not for the right reasons. Sure, the dog was a neat idea, and marrying everyone you can, and buying up all sorts of property is great, but was there any real reason to do any of that? Most of it ends up as busy work and don't really enhance the game, it's just another tick mark to put on the back of the box.

There are some great ideas in that noggin' of his, I'm sure. He just needs to formulate them in a workable manner.

Keep on Molyneux-ing, Peter. Keep it on.

Nice to know that there's a least one producer out there with some sense of humility. If only some others (Tomonobu Itagaki and Yoshinori Ono come to mind) learned to think similarly.

The Fable games weren't bad. They were just trying too hard, I'd say.

If it makes him feel any better Fable 1 and 2 are the only games besides Pac-Man that my mother has played a lot, I mean she really likes Fable, probably more than me and she thinks it's great, I mean she isn't really good at games and she found 2 and 1 simple enough that she actually passed them and it was very entertaining to watch her play and say things like she wanted to be the good guy followed by the killing of a villager because he flirted with her, so yeah Peter is the only guy who makes modern games that my mother likes, that's gotta count for something.

Peter, your the only person I can listen to without being bored. The only person who sounds like he truly believes in what he does and what he makes. The only person who doesn't sound like they're just speaking rehearsed, corporate PR speak. And for that, I thank you.

Just don't expect me to listen when you talk about your next game Since I don't think that you said you would stop making these promises...

Damnit Peter just give your games some time to percolate before you release them. You have a great supporting staff and you need to give them time to do things. But yes you are forgiven.

It's my own fault for getting sucked in- I thought things couldn't get worse than Fable II but they did.

Judging by past experience, I'd say this means a new Peter Molyneux game announcement is right around the corner - and it will again feature plenty and to spare of promises.

I'd rather have an apologetic dreamer around than a bitter, cynical and racist know-it-all. In every thread I've seen you in you go out of your way to play captain downer.

You don't have to like his games, or ever buy one again. I mean by now you should know better than to get hyped over what he says. To be honest though I like Peter Molyneux. Nobody is perfect and in the least he owns up to it. A lot of people in the games industry would have you believe that they're infallible.
