So no he's going to become a habitual under-stater?
When he's not busy over-exaggerating ;)

Seriously, why do people keep forgiving him?! He just bullshits, makes all these claims then never delivers, and yet this thread is full of fans - I don't get it!

Because someone who admits to you they are lying is better than someone who lies and stays quiet about it. All PR from games and anything else has bullshit in it somewhere. That Peter Molyneux can admit his Pr does, and tell us he's sorry for doing it? Makes him a rare gem in a mountain of rocks.

Eh, I could go for that if he didn't bullshit so much. Most devs at least keep their press somewhat close to reality, and expectations realistic - that's not what I see coming from Peter.

...he got a BAFTA? Really?! Why?! Miyamoto, yeah, I get that. But Molyneux? I loved Fable but 2 and 3 were nowhere near as good. Wow, this has taken me aback
You really should do some research; Molyneux made some highly innovative games before Fable you know...

Populous [credited with creating the "God" sim], Syndicate, Magic Carpet, Black and White, The Movies, Theme Park, Dungeon Keeper.

All games he is at least credited with developing [or his company, Bull Frog developed] and many he was lead Designer on - every single one of those games were innovative in their own way; many for completely different reasons.

I can't hate someone like him, with so much passion.

I just can't.

Don't ever change, Peter.

Oh you.

Coincidentally, would anyone have really cared if you could plant acorns in Fable? Heck, I remember watching plants grow when I was playing Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, and it wasn't anything special back then either.

I've got to agree with you on this one... Ol'Pete, while not always delivering, does at least show passion. Which you don't see from many dev's these days. He aims high but often falls flat however he shows effort where most don't.

As for people asking for Black & White back... I'm doubting that will be happening anytime soon. Lionhead no longer owns the I.P for that game series nor do they own the I.P for Dungeon Keeper and many other past games. I think E.A owns them. They still, as far as I'm aware, own the I.P for The Movies and I'd like to see a sequel.

So anyway, keep rocking Pete, we all love you.

Fable 3 Was really rushed out, and the Features Werent planned out and thought out.
I don't forgive you, fuck Fable and it's awkward Features, and not being on bloody STEAM!

PS : No seriously, Peter, Where Fable 3 on PC?

I adore Peter Molyneux; his enthusiasm for games and what they can do is infectious, and the game industry would be far blander without him (it's too bad that lies are part of that infectious quality). I just wish I could love his games as much as the man behind them. I thought Fable 1 was pretty good, and I still want to try Fable 2; and it seems I'm in the minority of people who actually loved Black and White, because there weren't many games that let you BE A GOD, let alone have a learning, evolving creature by your side, and I found it to be quite functional.

It's just that we have yet to see a game where he succeeds in delivering everything he truly desires to see in the game. This man needs a lot more time to get things done, so he doesn't over-extend himself and weaken other portions to complete the game. The best games I've ever played had at least 2 years of work behind them.

Gabe Newell for the BAFTA.
Not until we have Episode 3 sitting on our laps. I don't want to encourage him to keep improving their finished products instead of delivering on their promises.

Peter is great entertainment as long as you see him as a very successful troll. Some of the promises he makes are hilarious!

Molyneux consistently mis-understands the success of his own games. Both what's good about them and why they are successful. His Bullfrog era games are probably his best but he's gotten away from them.

FABLE had a lot of appealing elements but in subsequent iterations he's expanded on the pointless/useless/uninteresting parts (npc romance, dogs, completionist checklists) and strayed from the path of what was good (motivating storyline, flexible gameplay, character customization, impish humor mixed with epic world-destroying combat, some semblance of good/evil).

His core audience always was PC users. He's totally shat all over them in the last 5 years by putting FABLE out on platforms and delaying or renegging on putting it out on PC.

Sorry Petey, but you used to be interesting and I enjoyed driving around in your car with you. Now you're all flashy new car and nothing interesting to say, so I don't care to go driving with you anymore.
