It's hard not to like the guy, but there comes a point where you think "have you not realised this is how it goes every time, Peter?" He needs a partner who can pick holes in his ideas before they get implemented, a balancing, cynical influence. He and Yahtzee should be roommates. And possibly fight crime.
I second this, Peter's heart seems to be in the right place but his ideas always exceed his execution, he realy does need to be partnered up with someone who can keep him grounded and channel those creatives energies into achievable ideas (see the original fable premise of being able to plant an acorn and watching it grow over time)

Literally every single time he does this.

It makes me cringe whenever I see a comment saying "Oh wow! Someone who actually admits his mistakes!" Since by now it's just a pattern he uses to hype up the next game without actually doing anything different.
Yeah, Peter says the same thing after every Fable game. Not really news anymore.

This pretty much means that he's going to announce Fable 4 now. As this is pretty much what he does every time before he has released a sequel. Man this guy is a douche. It's like every damn time he says "I know this one had its faults, but this one is going to be even BETTER and fix all of that!"

Just stop Peter. Nobody cares.

Personally, I rather enjoyed fable 2, and fable 3 was a step up from this, with more intuitive interfaces (Yeah, it was annoying going to the sanctuary all the time, But, it was better at keeping you in the story that lots of menu's), Better and more fluid combat (With some awesome finishing moves) and the dual magic idea.

The problem the games have is Peter has so many good idea's that he tries to get them all crammed in and then they run out of time leaving a lot half finished, but he does always make them better for the next game along with adding all his new ideas.

It's been said before, but "You are always your own worst critic", I know any work I've done, I do the exact same he does, and admit all my faults. There are those who say that it's all his way to make hype for the next game, and it might make hype, but I personally choose to see it as he is always learning from the last game. But he will continue to aim for that which he cannot reach, which I love about him.

I see so many great and amazing ideas in the Fable series that unfortunately were not developed enough. I wish Microsoft would cut the deadlines and give Lionhead as much time as they need with the next Fable. It seems that the only thing the Fable series needs in order to realize its potential is time.

Eh this kind of angry cynicism is also to be expected in every one of these threads and similarly makes me cringe. To make matters worse, half the time it's from people who didn't even buy the game in question.

Now I'll say that there were a lot of things in Fable 3 that said to me that this was not a finished product. As a for instance, development shots showed off some spectacular looking coin golf tables, but the final game had no pub games whatsoever.

Too much fiddling from microsoft I'll imagine when it came to kinect support and time constraints. How many games do they publish and yet they won't let one of their most prestigious studios develop a "when it's done" philosophy? I can't say Pete inspires confidence though with his spite for controllers are reliable HUDS, but at least if he gets his act together enough to ship a finished game it will attest that he learned something from this. And MS should really take their reputation into account over deadlines.

"Well, I am ashamed that Fable III got bad scores, I guess we must be doing something wrong.

Wait, I know how to win back the fans! let's make the next Fable an on-rails shooter!"

WHY MOLYNEUX, WHY!?

While this could be a great idea, as is Peter keeps coming up with new ideas he want's to add, if he has all the time he needs to make a game, I can see that we'll be waiting as long as DNF took, and you will be able to tell where the changes of gaming took place during the games production when you play it. But I might be wrong and maybe the game would live up to his great view for it, we can only hope.

Doesn't he do this after every Lionhead release nowadays?

Also, who the fuck gave Fable III 80-something review scores?
Sure, some of the dialogue is witty (specifically the parts done by John Cleese) but the rest of the game is mediocre at best.

I don't know about the rest of it being "mediocre at best". You may not like everything about the fable series from a personal standpoint, but from a design point of view somebody does. From the glittering trail system being incorporated into "Skyrim", to the addition of dogs in "Minecraft", to the hand holding system in "Amy", there are apparently some people who seem to think it's got some good ideas.

From what I've seen after playing all of the Fable games it just seems as if the developers didn't have enough time to realize their ideas. Duke Nukem Forever was the product of laziness and all around incompetence, at least from what I've seen.

I just wish Lionhead had enough time to realize all of their ideas. You can see so many sparks of greatness in their games that were simply not realized due to the tight production schedule.

Mr Molyneux, you are one strange little man.

And yet, I can't help but like the guy.
The man's charisma stat is through the roof. That said, he says this after every Fable installment. Oh, we had high hopes but didn't reach them. Oh, I feel just gutted over what we didn't achieve.

You know, just once, I'd like him to be offended and ask us what the hell our collective problem is. Just once.

I actually thought the ruling section of the game worked pretty well, that one certain exception, erm, excepted. Yes the 150 day nap exception.

However despite the rest of the section being quite thought-provoking, that one decision, that one act, that once complete fucking dick-move was so bad, so out of place, so stupid, so utterly non-sensicle that frankly I think it would be fair to knock the game down to a mid-80s score just for it alone, even if the rest of the game were 100/100.

I won't spoil it - though honestly if you're playing through the game I encourage you to look it up; it's so deviant from immersion that spoiling it for youself and being able to plan around it is actually going to make the game better - but this was not some random quest in the middle of the game. This was not some stupid decision that had no lasting effect. This was the big last choice, the big action of win-it-or-loose-it for the game as a whole, the one thing that the entire story lead up to, the catalyst for every decision you made as king, the decision that will have a lasting, permenant effect on the world as it dictates how many people survive... and the not only takes it out of your hands, but proceeds to throw it on the floor and stomp on it.

Too fucking right the game didn't deserve any more than 8/10.
