I think it depends on the piercing. A lot of body art is common place, like nose piercings (non-septum) are a dime a dozen, especially in college.

I thought you meant they're trouble, because they can get infected and shit. Always take care of your piercings. And always pay good money for them too. Nothing shittier than having your face all infected and inflamed. Ug.

Almost two weeks ago, I got a septum piercing. The reaction to it has been... mixed... to say the least, due to the fact that it's a very uncommon piercing around here.

In the time between getting the piercing and right now, I've noticed something strange. In school, teachers seem more suspicious of me. I don't know how to explain it without rambling but basically they seem to be less trusting of me, generally much less willing to hear what I have to say, etc. Outside of school, when I go into shops, security guards seem to watch me more closely than usual. Only two days ago, I was in Tesco to kill about 15 minutes until I got picked up by my friend and I couldn't help but notice that a security guard was hovering near me anywhere I went. I'm beginning to think that people are associating piercings with trouble in general.

What's your opinion? What do you think when you see someone with unusual piercings (ie. not ears or navel)?

EDIT:

That's a septum piercing. Mine is smaller though.
They aren't suspicious, you just look funny. Septum piercings almost always do (though the side nose piercing that doesn't stick out always turns me on [on women]).
