Piracy Steals 95% of Microsoft's Revenue in China

Pardon my language by just fuck China. Microsoft should just stop all services to them and then this piracy will be crippled. Hacking is legal in China so the government doesn't care and Microsoft might actually save money by cutting off services to them anyways.

wait, is 95% of microsoft's products pirated in china, or is china 95% less productive than america? because those are 2 very different things.

frankly, that is just the way china works; the few who can afford gaming PCs are tech savvy enough to pirate with impunity, PCs are not nearly as accessible as they are in the US, and id imagine they'd be happy just for the opportunity to own something the gov't doesnt have their hands in. china has never been productive for american business tactics; this is just another attempt by a publisher to blame piracy for their failures.

People are poor? Piracy!

But I like the whole "Saving America" thing. People want to call Bill Gates and Microsoft evil, even though he has donated more money than all of his haters put together.

Don't worry...according to those pirates they are not negatively affecting the industry because they wouldn't have bought the game anyways for reasons XYZ.

Also, through pirating and promoting the game, they've led their non-pirating friends to buying actual copies, thus generating more gaming revenue in China than any form of marketing. Microsoft should be thanking these pirating pioneers for saving gaming in China and around the globe.

/sarcasm.

I am pretty sure that in china the cost of the operating system is more than an actual shitty computer.

Remember everyone, China steal everything in terms of media, not just the content itself. I honestly wonder sometimes if more entertainment there is copied from something else then there is original content.

And then you realize that all of these numbers are pointless because they are theoreticals.

95% of that 95% probably would never have purchased a product in the first place, so the number is bloated to the point of insanity.
The amount of illogical hypocrisy in your statement is really quite amazing.
Please elaborate before slapping your hands on the keyboard mindlessly.

Ugh, China. To me they're like the new Soviet Union. I sincerely hate this country's government and what it does... just ugh, one more reason to hate China.

In fairness, as China is where much of the electronics that go into your typical modern computer is manufactured, it may well be that it's actually cheaper to get the parts than the OS. Only a Chinese national (which I am not) could answer that question with authority.

Still- 95% is pretty outrageous by any measure.

What do you expect. They are super poor. WE make more in 1 year then most of them do in their entire lives.
Most of the people, but you're forgetting that the rich elite in Eastern China are basically living American standards. Like you would go there and not notice anything out of the ordinary if the language was replaced by English. The problem though remains the government's banning of all things not pro-government, so often times the people then make up their own versions.

But it allows Chinese people to try out an operating system that they're not sure about!

But Windows has bad DRM so Chinese people are indignant about it!

Other jokes related to the shitty arguments that pirates use are welcomed. ^_^
It's easy to play the "anti-piracy bandwagon joking around" card on a forum where you can't defend piracy. Just saying that if people join in, it's not really that that they can play against you on that.

This is a pretty large number. However it's still 78% in North America, which makes me think that Microsoft would be WAAAAAY richer if every single person bought it. Seriously, those numbers are just disgusting, yet still they're rich, I can only imagine how much money they could make if each copy was legitimate.

Fuck your sarcasm, it's no joke! If all those people decide that they've trialled Windows enough and they like it they'll run out and get it! It's their fault for making a shitty OS that doesn't survive the demo period that micro$$$$$oft doesn't provide here! [http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/evalcenter/cc442495]!

Also it's their fault for being rich, it's not like China pirates indie OS releases or anything made in small batches right?

In addition don't you know that if you build a PC you're entitled to Windows? Says so right there in the US constitution and...free speech and er...Internet freedom!...Data should be, er, free...
Rage much?
Just because Microsoft is rich doesn't give anyone a right to pirate from them. Sorry but the leaders of Microsoft worked hard for their money.
Why should people be allowed to take it for free?
Also, what os are you using? Can't survive the demo period? I've had Vista for over two years and it's working just fine....
As for the US constitution thing. You're kidding right? That makes no sense. I'm not from the US but that just sounds plain retarded. If you build your own pc you are entitled to a product from the company?
Please tell me you were joking with your entire argument because it just sounds like you are trying to justify something that really should be illegal.

Take levels in Paladin to use "Detect Sarcasm". That's all I can really say.
It was so over the top, and the way he wrote that last bit was intended to sound stupid. Of course this was a joke.

OT: As many have pointed out, just because Microsoft is rich does not give people the right to pirate from them.

Intellectual property is a corporatist scam. For it relies on the auspices of the state to maintain the junta.

The corporate propaganda here is atrocious.

There is nothing wrong with copying any more than learning to walk by watching someone else do it.

'Pirate' was the word that the Spanish armada used to describe independent contractors who were trying to steal the gold that they just stole from the Incas and the Aztecs.

The bigger thief always hides behind the state(Microsoft).

Heh that brings to mind the old joke.
Salesman 1: Did you hear? Adobe doubled their Photoshop sales in China last year.
Salesman 2: Wow, how many units did they move?
Salesman 1: Two.

Aren't we like billions of $ in debt to China anyway? I think of this as a small way of paying them back
Oh man, what if it's all part of the plan? China rolls up in a few years time, ready to screw America over and start WW3... by taking all their money back and leaving America broke so they can swoop in and steal their country!

But then Microsoft is all like "Actually, you owe us freaking billions for all the games you pirated from us, bitches." Yes, that's right, Microsoft saves America, and therefore saves the world.

I think I just wrote the plot to the next Call of Duty.
It's beautiful. I love it. Write a book. No, not a book. A novel. Not just a novel, but a series of novels.

you know, speaking as a guy that both pirates, and buys things brand new (recently speaking, pre-ordered dirt 3 and witcher 2.)

the drm arguement, dosen't really hold alot of water, unless it's say capcom and street fighter for example, or GFWL (yeah, i consider it drm, it's a goddamn POS thats more annoying than useful, fuck it's net-code sucks ass especially >_>) so yeah, when it's Actually problematic, for singleplayer/offline play (cuz it never really bugged online play much.) then yeah, i'll take a work-around pl0x.

although, the "try b4 u buy." i'll give that credit where it's due, it's saved me alot of cash for things i didn't like, enabling me to buy things i DID like.

but anyways, back to the topic...

windows is still one of the easiest OS's to crack, and run cracked. i was, for 8 months, my current os, win7, then i won a competition at a lan, got a free copy, legit, so, i'm using that now :p i think, this is the first legit OS thats been in anyones house that i know of, except the very few times someone bought a pre-built+installed machine.

aswell as, considering this is china, i'm suprised they aren't making there own os-clone off of a pirated copy.
